That's got to add another £10m to his value.  Not that I want to sell him, of course,  but what a multiskilled asset he's turned out to be.

Seriously though, if he flew easyjet  or suchlike, or steerage on one of the main airlines, it would be more than the hip that would be banjaxed:

Perhaps the club could put a photo of CB on the cover of the programme tomorrow and ask for a 'Sun' like intervention from fans where everybody concentrates positive mending thoughts on Benteke's hip at a given time during the match, like they did with a famous metatarsal, once...

I understand that he was offered a ride home with Jack Woodward and opted for the flight even if it meant an extra two weeks of rehab.

Christian Benteke is set to be named in Belgium’s latest squad - despite his Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert insisting the injured striker should not play.

Lambert has crocked Benteke pencilled in for a return to the Villa side against Tottenham after the international break on October 20.

The Scot said last week that if his star man was not fit for club football, then he would not play for his country.

But Belgium are still expecting the 22-year-old to return home on Sunday ahead of World Cup qualifiers versus Croatia and Wales that should see them book their place at next summer's finals.

The Belgian FA sent physio Lieven Maesschalck to Birmingham this week to assess Benteke, who is on the mend from a hip injury.

Belgium lead their group and need one more point to confirm qualification for Brazil next summer, going into an away game against second-placed Croatia a week on Friday.

Benteke, who has five goals this term, was initially ruled out for up to six weeks after scans on his hip injury a week ago.

But Belgium boss Marc Wilmots has been in regular touch with Villa and the fast-improving Benteke.

A compromise that would see Belgium calling up Benteke so he can be used, if needs be, in their final qualifier - at home to Wales on October 15 - is a possibility.

The star will have further treatment on his injury in Belgium in the meantime.

The papers are trying to make a big deal out of this, from what I read the Belgium doctor seemed like he wanted to work with Villa on the matter.

Let hope he is there to check if Benteke is getting right treatment and cheer him up.

I am suspicious that this injury as come at the same time as the release of GTA V.

I would imagine our own doctor would go and assess Benteke prior to any game should Belgium want to play him. In the same way they have been over here to assess his fitness.

If he's fit, then he should play for Belgium. Simple as that. They have every right to select him.

Its not in belgiums interests to take any risks wih him either , they need one point to qualify and will hammer wales , I think it would be wise to let him rest and get 100% and that would benefit not only villa but Belgium too.

It does look as if they're trying to turn it into a club v country row. I'm sure it'll be nothing of the sort.
