The BBC has Lambert saying four weeks:

2225:
INJURY NEWS

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert says Christian Benteke will be out for four weeks with a hip injury.

So back in time for Everton at home?

Hopefully Spurs at least to make that game competitive.

He's out for the next two games and then there's a two week international break aswell, we then play Spurs on the sunday so hopefully there's enough time to get him fit for that.

"Four, five or six weeks," according to the manager.

Hmmm might be November then.

Only consolation is at least this didn't happen March time last season otherwise we'd be in the championship now.

On the way back tonight 5 Live interviewed Lambert and he said not as bad as originally thought - maybe 4 weeks, and the international break will help us as he'll miss less games. I reckon he'll be back for the Spurs game

That's clear then. Either way, the international break will take up a chunk of the time. Just have to try and make do without him in the meantime.

I just hope we don't try and rush him back. I'd rather he miss another game or two and come back fully fit.

What about Gabby's knock?

There's a bad joke there just waiting to be made.

Could be worse. Could be better. Hopefully our other attacking players step up now without Benteke there to get them out of jail.

We would miss Gabby more, certainly away from Villa Park. He is completely and utterly essential to the way we play, and our next 2 forward signings have to to be guile and pace.
