Serious question though...how does a blind person watch the games in order to make their own judgement or are they reliant on commentary? If Si listens to and relies on Radio WM then its no wonder she has an overly negative view on things.
Yes they listen to it. I tried a number of times with the General to get him to supply audio description for blind fans. This gives a more descriptive commentary and is available at more and more grounds and other places like cinemas.

I always used to listen in to franksy between 6-7 of an evening on my journey home.
But I got sick of him stickin it to villa at every opportunity, it really is very biased.
Have not listened in 4 months, supposed to be for all local clubs not just 1 franksy, you stripey arsed cock jockey.
But don't they stick it to Villa as its going to get the most reaction? It encourages the misguided to join in their favourite obsession (Villa bashing) and it encourages the blessed to defend our own obsession. If they were all over us wouldn't people ignore them? I don't mean phoning up but tweeting and all that stuff. I've done a lot of social media stuff for work and mostly you want engagement and certain things push peoples buttons

My daughter worked in our bbc local radio and said they usually put the fruit loops on air. Apparently the production staff are laughing themselves silly as they put the callers thru to the presenter.

It has become even by its own standards appallingly biased and disgraceful broadcasting.  And this is coming from someone who once had time for them.  I think even the Villa fans who call in regularly have had enough of it. On Tuesday night's show there were no Villa callers until 18.58 when Dennis (a complete negative loon) rang in, didn't say anything, instead asked by Franksy to do a song, which he did to much mirth and piss taking before the show closed out.  Shockingly bad.

Hes on every night this week apparently.  They said he will "sing them out" at the end of every show this week.

Unmissable radio..........

I was listening to this during the long drive home last night. It says a lot about the state of the programme when straight after two games had finished a Villa supporter was on for about ten minutes (it may have been less but it seemed four hours) to go through every player and whether they should stay or not. The other thing I noticed was CallmeFranksy saying that if Albion didn't sign anyone in the summer they'd still be fine but Villa need to spend heavily or we'll be in Big Trouble.

The guy you're referring to is someone called Tom. A supposedly villa fan who always agrees with whatever Wanksy says.

I was listening to Radio WM yesterday (some scouse guy doing a golden hour show) and I was enjoying the build up they're giving to the FA Cup final. Apparently Franksy has claimed that everyone in the West Midlands - including Blues and Albion fans - will be supporting Villa on Saturday. Obviously we then had fans of both teams ringing up declaring how much they "''ate the Vile". Found it quite amusing. There is also a montage of clips in tribute to Benteke, Grealish and Delph.

That is it, essentially.

WM is effectively a well-oiled trolling operation.

They know they can't compete on quality (with the many other delivery channels, not just radio), so they basically try to annoy as many people as possible, in the hope they whip up a reaction. They are basically like a public sector Katie Hopkins.

See also some of the woeful, woeful output of the Birmingham Mail recently. A few of us on here got into a frank exchange of views with Steve Wollaston on Twitter last week, in which we raised that disgraceful ("throwing seats? Send us the bill") Bill Howells article (which got published then pulled after the Albion game), and the accompanying post match video in which he mentioned hating Villa.

I have a lot of time for Mat Kendrick, he was very readable when covering us, and took a huge amount of unfair stick, but they seem to have shifted him into an Internet only role in rich he just churns out mind numbing "can you see yourself in our photos of Villa fans" dross all week, mindless click bait of no value beyond trying desperately to up their page views.

The "the national media hate us" thing comes up on here quite a lot, but that always strikes me as tinged with paranoia, and not really true. Our problem with the media isn't with the Nationals, it is with the local media.

If there is another local BBC radio station in the country as disparaging of their local biggest club as WM is, I'll be surprised.

Similarly, I'd be surprised if the Liverpool Echo paid someone to be their Liverpool correspondent, then thought it'd be OK for him to start saying how much he hates Liverpool after they've switched him to Everton (although Tranmere would be a more accurate comparison)

Spot on as usual Paulie.

Whatever else is said though having them tosspots lauding it over us for finishing above us more times than they should the last few seasons is an indictment on us that we need to put right in short order.  Because Albion were fcukin terrible to watch as a team yet finished six points above us.

When I was growing up WM used to just have a phone in on a Friday night and then obviously after the games on a Saturday and Sunday.

Problem was them changing to every night a few years back. I don't listen but what on earth do they talk about other than these inane player comparisions Frawnksy likes to do?

What do they do when there's an international break on? I can understand national radio but just dosen't work on local radio.

I can assure you when I worked there many moons ago, Doolan, Wilkes, Taynton and the odd others I worked for, would have slaughtered you if you put any caller through, who couldn't make a decent point, couldn't speak clearly, and could put a couple of sentences together. there was also a "hit" list of callers NOT to put on air, and if you failed you were put on the retrieving guests and making coffee duty. Trust me if the guest was Dennis Howell, you grovelled to get back to picking up the phones.
