It's a shame we can't  come up with a song that no one else sings. We used to have such a collection in the 70's surely someone can come up with something that is unique to us, which is ours alone.

Some team were singing a version of 'oh lord...' on the weekend - can't remember who. I know Blackburn have a version of it. Songs are often nicked by other clubs so no need to get uppity about this one. For instance, the 'Everybody Sh*t on the City...Coz they're a load of shi-i-ite' is originally their song about us.

I've no opinion about this song by the way.

I don't like the I don't care song either,as I first heard the Noses sing it.  That said, any song that isn't to the tune of Kumbaya gets my vote.  I can't abide that shit.

It's been all downhill since the hardy Gooners at the Library, sang, to the tune of Sonnet by The Verve:

Yeah, he's Patrick Vieira, He drives a Sierra, My Lord,
Yeah, he's Patrick Vieira, Midfielders surrender, My Lord,

We've played two matches this season in both of which our fans have made a constant racket. That "all I care about" song (which includes references to the team we are playing, which is kind of the opposite to singing about Blues, so surely should go down well) seems to go on for ages, too.

Isn't that the most important thing by miles? The continual loud vocal support for the team?

point nailed. brilliant support at arsenal and chelsea, and a brilliant response by the team.

if you don't like a song, come up with a better one to sing.

This.

Oh, and songs to the tune of My Old Man Said have been around for decades, so people are mistaken in thinking that is a Villa original. Likewise the Paul McGrath song which was sung by Man U fans about Paul Scholes for ages.

Paulie, You are spot on - every team used to sing My Old Man in the 70s. However, IIRC we had the Paul McGrath song before Manyoo had it for Scholes. It used to start with a verse of  "Yes we have a friend in Jesus, yes we have a friend in God, Yes we have a friend in Jesus, and his name is Paul McGrath". Not heard that part in about 15 years.

Agree with your final comment above too - the most important thing is the vocal support.

By the way, what is the original tune to this song? Is it summat by a horrible boy band?

The words are shit. As I think so I'll say they are. I'll be there Saturday singing but I won't be signing that as it's a crap song.

Saying I don't like a song is hardly whining and I'd appreciate you not claiming I am.

Don't be so touchy.

It is aimed at the general moaning about this song since Saturday, not you in particular.

I don't get it, why are people so bothered?

It's like the inference us singing about Small Heath makes us small time somehow - dont people listen to away fans singing about their rivals too?

I'd understand it if we'd nicked Keep Right On but nicking a song 15 noses have sung once or twice on a near empty lower leagues away terrace doesn't seem the same.

I agree, other than to add that an old guy I used to work with reckons that when he was a lad Villa fans also sang Keep Right On to the End of the Road, but without the stuff about being "off to park the van" at the start.

Me too, but this bloke was talking about the early 50s.

It is a bit different sitting in the hole in the wall (or where ever the pub is now) or Aston Social and singing songs of almost folk music genre to being in the stands and blasting out a wall of sound.
In the ground, wall of sound.
If we were to sing all the verses of Holte enders in the sky at the games everyone would be mumbling befopre the end of the 1st verse.
Instead, at every telivised game as the teams run out I hear, YIPPYE AYe AYE, brilliant this is our song.
But it does not prevent us having, other songs.
My all time favourite,  a long haunting rendition of, Villa, Villa,Villa, Villa ,followed by Villa, Villa,Villa,Villa.

Every time i hear that whilst watching a Villa game over here the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. The Holte, no finer place on this Earth. UTV

OK so it's a catchy tune, the lyrics are suitable for children and it's great for everyone to clap along to. It's more suited to a kindergarten than a football ground.

For someone with a username like yours I'm quite surprised you can't see that others may wish to exercise their right to sing what they wish just because you don't like it.  As for it being suited to a kindergarten I find nowt wrong with that, theirs plenty of time for children to be exposed to the type of language we use, they'll learn it soon enough.
