I think that the issue was spelling 'knob' wrong, rather than the insult.

Maybe he was calling everyone a nob as in Hobnob. I haven't had Hobnobs in ages.

I must say that I've noticed a sudden upturn in the level of lively banter and friendly atmosphere on here since I read this post. How are the kids, Toronts?! ;-)

Biscuit conversation is not only legendary on H&V but always lightens the mood. Like adding ambient lighting and some Otis Redding or Sam Cooke in the background. Kids are doing really well sir. Now 3,1/2yr mostly well behaved twin girls, you'll recall. How have you been and your family? Good to hear from you.

It's all go chez Villainorse, gearing up for the August copper wire gathering from the railway lines. The washing machine race is early September too so I've had to pull the kids out of school. It's funny, it's the one time of year we don't get a visit from the truancy officer. More's the pity, reckon my pack of intolerant, sociopath Dobermans!

Next time you're back in Blighty I insist that you and the mrs & kids come on a caravanning holiday with me to Rhyll. We'll all take our trousers off and shout 'fuck off' at the sea. All followed, of course, by a trip to Chicken Cottage to talk Villa while the young 'uns set fire to he pier. Can't wait, me old mucker!

Well obviously there are worse things in the World but if you are just going to point out a terrorist attack or a natural disaster every time a few people get irate about something that has happened to their football team we may as well just close all forums right now, because obviously nothing in football will ever actually be that important.

Or you could just ignore threads you don't like and let the rest of us vent away?

I would imagine that pretty much every single post on here is made, and read (at least by most), with the implicit acknowledgement that we are only talking about football and, as such, the fact that there are far more important / worse problems in life - ie getting killed in a terrorist attack, cancer, child mortality, whatever - goes without saying.

Stuff like this really boils my piss. Why come on to a football club fans forum site to tell people (who already know full f**king well) that there are more important things in life than football? Im pretty sure there are world news and politics forums where you can go and discuss these more important issues.

May I respectfully suggest that many people come on here to escape from a lot of the miseries that confront them in their everyday lives? We all have the one thing in common, the love of football and, the Villa in particular.  We don't need constant reminders of world tragedies when reading about football, there are separate threads to post in about those should anyone wish to do so.

I love some of the other topics that crop up, I find them educational and informative.  Civil debate is wonderful to read and, sometimes post in if an opinion is held.

Surely there's more important things to be giving out about than football fans giving out about a former player on a football message board.
