Chelsea look well below their best today against hull- if they play like this on Wednesday then we will certainly have a chance against them .
Could be to our advantage playing them early on before they get into their stride.

eastie I thought for the first 30 mins Chelsea were brilliant v Hull. But I am hoping PL will press high up the pitch to suppress the control the MF had today. Think PL will keep Ahmadi in the side as he has better retention than Sylla .......

I think Chelsea will piss the title this season . Massively tough game this and I think we will lose narrowly due to poor officiating.

Fair enough, i missed the opening 20 mins so i guess Chelsea may have taken their foot off the gas , although like i say it may be good to play them before they get fully into their stride - i agree that the midfield three will be the same , i don't think sylla will be fit for the Chelsea game but el ahmedi deserves to keep his place on yesterday's display.

I watched the opening phase when Chelsea went 2 up and missed a pen And Chelsea looked unplayable I  then went out to play golf fully expecting to come home and see a big score. Amazed it ended 2-0.

Lampard is the main man we need to stop. He always scores against us. Class player.

I'd be surprised is Lampard plays. Mourinho has already stated that he'll use him sparingly this season and two games in four days may be too much for the the old horse. It's not as though they don't have options.

3-3. I'd be really happy with a point from this.

2-1 defeat, but with a respectable performance that allows us to head into the Liverpool game with good confidence. I'd like to see Jonas come in for this game alongside Vlaar and then if Vlaar plays badly again, drop him for the Liverpool game

Who is Jonas?

I'm guessing it's Okore.

Yeah, it's fine by me

Gabby is the only Villa player in Garth Crooks' team of the week, which has 4 MU players. FOUR FFS! BBC's Mancs love-in knows no limits.

This is gonna be a real tough game but I think the players will take a great deal of confidence from the way they contained Arse yesterday and worked so well as a team - massive credit to Villa players as opposed to the whinging, roll-around-on the-floor-claiming-GBH wankers that Wilshere and Co proved themselves to be - led by their manager!
Feeling full of positives from the Arse game I think we'll nick a point. (Or perhaps THEY will nick a point!).
UTV!

Back to earth with a bump, I think. 4-1 (with two late-ish goals for them and one for us).

I imagine Okore didn't play on Sat either because he's not match fit, or because PL was worried about Vlaar at LCB, or both.

To that end, I suspect Clark will play again. And I'm just envisaging Chelsea's attack swarming all around us. They'll be pumped for their  first few games and we could suffer. We'll need to be a lot more precise with our counter attacks to make them pay.

The worry is that Chelsea barely broke sweat today. They got the two goals and coasted the rest of the game, so I don't think tiredness will be a factor for them in anyway shape or form.

"We saw it last season and we're seeing it again: Agbonlahor's blistering pace and power. Paul Lambert described the forward's performance against Arsenal as "unplayable" - but all credit to Arsene Wenger, who didn't moan about the penalty decisions or Laurent Koscielny's sending off."

To paraphrase Liverpool's owner what is Crooks smoking?

He said that!
What a twat!
That's all Wenger DID say about the game!
(Crooks has been smoking weird shit for some time).
