My excitement has just gone up to small boy at Christmas levels.

Finally I can shout in public again without getting funny looks. C'mon you Villa boys!

Not excited as such, just really looking forward to it all being back. Going to be spending most of today in Cheltenham pubs I think as i have a couple of Liverpool friends who want to watch that, then we'll probably stay out. I'm excited about a good day out!

5. I'm a lot calmer in the summer, I'm already anticipating a dose of gloom this first week, sorry.

3 - But only due to the fixture schedule from hell at the start filling me with a sense on the inevitable favouring of the big teams even before a ball is kicked. On a very unfair playing field, they make damn sure the odds are stacked in favour of the money boys more.

Won 2, drawn 2 and lost 3 (which includes a TSM surrender) is a good record. I will take my chances at Arsenal thanks.

C'mon!

when you look at our opening three fixtures and then read the bleating from moyes about his three, it just serves as a reminder to me that utd are to be hated.

Still excited about the forthcoming season though - 10 as ever : )

Very excited. I think we could surprise people this season. I know our defence still looks bobbins, but I'm really holding out hope that Vlaar comes good and improves his own game, but also his influence on how our backline is organised during the game. I see our attacking play being ever better to watch this season too as we have potential game changers on the bench. Tonev and Helenius both look very promising. Bacuna could have a goal or two in him. KEA will hopefully improve, given his solid pre-season.
I'm also expecting Lowton to come on even further. He's my player to watch to be honest. Benteke is great and he's a top player already. I think this could be the season where Lowts emerges as Englands best right back going. I think he's got an intelligence on the ball that perhaps the pacier Walker and certainly Glenda don't have.

Tough start or not, I expect us to pull off a surprise or two.

Also in terms of everyone else, it'll be very interesting. The scrap for 7th-10th will be interesting. Swansea, West Ham, Fulham, us, Everton and possibly 1-2 others could be scrapping for those spots. The relegation battle will be very compelling too. Expect a couple of big guns to be struggling again, notably the Toon. Possibly Sunderland. Sunderland will be possibly the most difficult team to second guess because of their manager. Will they be very good and push for those 7th-10th top half spots, or will they implode under PDC's personality and erratic behaviour? If it's the latter they could struggle. Stoke will get sucked in it again. Norwich have punched above their weight for a couple of years, so they may run out of luck. Who gets the 18th place is anyones guess. Bottom two seem to be nailed on to be honest.

One of the promoted teams may surprise people. Probably Cardiff. They've got some decent players. Whittingham I think will impress this season. Bellend is a Bellend but he can still do a job at this level and his passion can't be faulted. Perhaps 1-2 more signings will help them.

Most interesting thing for me is the title race. Utd will surely struggle to retain. City have a new manager and need to improve their defence. Mourinho wins titles where-ever he goes and you wouldn't want to bet against him taking the premiership back to the bridge. Then there's Arsenal, Spurs and hate to say it, Liverpool. They're all persistently, 2-3 of the right signings away from making a good stab of a title shot. Will Arsene get these signings? Will Spurs and Liverpool keep their prized assets and add 1-2 quality players. I mean Spurs have made a couple of potentially decent signings. Defoe as an option from the bench is good because he'll always score goals.
Liverpool are more than just Suarez. He's the main man certainly and if he does stay he's got Sturridge their too, Gerrard's re-invented himself very well. Coutinho is quality. Keep dirty Luis and sign 2-3 players to give them more strength and depth and they could be dark horses.

Like wise if Spurs and Liverpool lose their star players, then there's a group below them, including ourselves who could potentially steal their place if they get 1-2 more signings.

Last season was, relegation battle aside, shit. There wasn't really a title race. This year it's very open.

7 or 8 out of 10. Think we'll do much better this year, and we kept Benteke.

You can actually hear some of the old boys in hear letting out accidental farts under their tartan blankets as they sit in the window waiting for something to moan about to pass the day before they get to go back to sleep again.

Its the morning of the start of the season, we have a great young team, a forward thinking manager, one of the best 3-4 strikers in the league and all the potential to be something really special. Weve got a team we can finally relate to and no a single tosser anywhere near the first team.

Yes we may get smashed and the world may look bleak at 5pm but untill 3.01pm this afternoon we could do anything. West Brom were in the top four for a third of the season last year ffs.

If you have answered anything less than 8 I think you need to have a long look at yourself and workout whether this is really for you anymore. Its not an accident we support the best team in the world.

F**king 10. C'mon Villa.
