Walcott was the one we all feared before the game but like someone else said, he didn't really have an effect on the game. Lovely finish from Mr Moon as well.

I think we have three 'if fit play' players who are 100% first pick for the team, Guzan, Benteke and Delph,
I am hoping Luna will become the next

I would add Lowton and Westwood to those.

I've probably watched the goal about 20 times this morning, quite amazing, having charged down the shot, as soon as Andi gets the ball he's away only one thought in his mind. Cult status after one game, not bad for a day's work, that'll live long in our memories.

"Shine on, shine on Tony Moon!"

(If you're not old enough to know the tune, the original was Harvey Moon!)

Yes, I watched it a few times as well.  Lovely finish for a full back.

Indeed - I really couldn't imagine Joe Bennett showing that level of composure.

I watched it god knows how many times last night.

Watch the way he spots the run is on, and starts pretty much from the edge of our box.

Luna's goal reminded me of Chrissy Price's goal at Highbury many moons ago.

I don't envy Joe Bennetts task of trying to dislodge this guy at left back but its a good thing, competition for places is what we have been lacking for a while.

Reminded me of Staunton at Hillsborough. That same "what the fuck's our left back doing there" feeling, just before he buried it.

Exactly. To win a game that we had been losing. Except this time, the fella who put him through didn't injure himself doing it...

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw it the first time, just like Staunton that time.

One of the things that has pleased me most in the one game of this season and the last portion of last season is the way Delph has been playing.

He's been excellent for us, really good, and I agree, he's rapidly making himself one of those names who go on to the team sheet straight away. Good work, Fabian.

He achieved a bit of cult status in the pre-season matches - remember he had a goal disallowed at Crewe!
And I thought then: "What the f**k's he doing there?".
Galloping towards me yesterday I couldn't help but think the same, then: "He's gonna f**k this up!".
And he didn't.
I love Luna!
Not in a sort of, like, ladycuddlygirlykissystroky kinda way, just as a real character who plays for the best football club in the World!
He seems to have got into the Villa ethos 100% and quickly.
He loves playing, is a great athlete and will drop a bollock now and again because of the way he plays - all or nothing - but I'd like to think he's going to be a good 'un!
Tony, Tony Mooooon, Tony Tony Moon!

Can I have an update?

1.  what's the best Tony Moon song?
2.  (and probably) which is the one the crowd have adopted?

Now Tony can you tell us 'bout this one
That time when you were through one on one
Now Tony when you scored at the Arsenal, baby
We had so much fun
Would you believe, his name is Tony Moon, Tony Moon
Would you believe, he plays in Claret and Blue, Claret and Blue

2.
Well from where i was sat yesterday, seemed we started mostly with
(a la Salifou/Daddy Kool)
Tony, Tony Moon
Tony, Tony Moon
Tony, Tony Moon
Tony, Tony Moon

but then it seemed to go more to
(KC & Sunshine Band 'Baby Give it up')
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
Tony, Tony Moon
Tony Moon
Tony Tony Moon

as to question
1.
I think both of these are contenders because of simplicity
(and the parallel cult without doing anything status of Salifou it's nice to re-cycle that)
and the second one is just fun.

the more complex the song we know the less likely it is to catch, but i think Bri's REM one above is up there, it was such a memorable debut with nosebleed territory one on one...

I don't think the Shine on Tony Moon stuff will stick, but there is the Fly me to the Moon option as well:

Buy me Tony Moon
Let him be a Villa star
Let me see what class is like
One-on-one, against the Arse

Thoughts?
