Newcastle were a surprise package knocking on the door the other year so you never know. It remains to be seen how we get on in our bread and butter games but our front 3 will always give us a chance. There seems to be more options with the players we've brought in, we seem more organised and the midfield are doing a good job of protecting the defence. After the shit we've been through in the last few years, things are looking up and this season looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

That's 6th to 3rd.

Top 8 for me and pushing for top 6 most times. We won't have enough in the end, but we might sneak a Europa position via the league. Mind you, having said that a cup is well within our capabilities.

Home form will be the key if we are to make real progress up the league this season.  Can't help but wonder if we are still better suited to playing away than at home and are still lacking that player that can open up teams that are set up to defend at Villa Park.

My more serious answer is 8th.

I still think this is about where we'll be. To finish much higher we'll need a good following wind with injuries, especially for the likes of Gabby, Delph, Benteke.

Between 6th and 12th assuming we maintain the performances of the last two games and we don't lose anyone in the transfer windows.

If we beat Liverpool, I reckon we could really push on Ron-Saunders-style.

Not really, it takes about ten games for the league to take shape I am not a fan of getting carried away after a couple good displays.

I am confident we will be in no danger of going down.  The strikers already have had a good start, the younger players are improving and if a few of the new buys prove good then that it going to improve us no end.

Long term I see us becoming a top six club again under this manager, but for this season I am happy finishing half way up.

If Everton lose Fellaini and Baines I reckon 7th is definitely up for grabs. Think everyone knows who the top six will be.

Our main challengers are likely to be Everton, west ham and Southampton, in my view. Southampton's academy must be the best in the country at the moment: bale, Walcott, AOC, shaw, lallana. If we could improve ours to that level, we'd be in a great place.
