The attendance is one thing that's been forgotten in the euphoria of the win. Over 37,000 for a Monday night TV game is superb. The Sunderland fans deserve praise as well for selling out their allocation considering the distance and the timing of the game.

With excitement like that, we would fill the ground for every game. Sunderland fans also deserve credit for joining in with the 19th minute clapping.

Good article, Dave. There is a very warm feel about the place at the moment.

As does di canio- he stood in the rain and clapped for the full minute.

Our season changed at Half time against Newcastle, we lost, but clapped them off the pitch and we have kept that level of performance up pretty much since then (bar the first 30mins at OT)

In the 11 games since/including Everton we've got 17 points.

That 1.5 points a game. If we can continue this sort of form next season, we are looking at around 58 points.

Is this realistic? I don't know, but I know it's ten times more enjoyable seeing our youngster lads try rather than a bunch of journey men just plod through, scraping a draw like last season.

In fact he was still clapping when Gabby bounced off him for CB hat trick!

Bad headlines - the triumphant return.

I love bad headlines - think there was an old Argus headline, after Stan Collymore had a particularly good game once - 'Colly-Flowers'.

I don't see it as massively unrealistic.  We have a real goal threat up front which will terrify sides and if we can start to hold on to leads better we'll be fine (we've dropped a lot of points from being in the lead this season, a few times when we've had a 2 goal cushion, which is pretty frustrating).

Having watched a re run of Monday's game on TV, I couldn't believe how utterly appalling Cuellar was. I didn't notice so much at the game, but bloody hell how many unforced mistakes did he make? I'd give him 1/10 at best, and that was for clapping Stan.

Good game once - come on he had at least 3 good games in 3 years.  :D
