Oh well. We never really saw the best of him or enough to determine whether he would be worth persevering with.

I guess he's been doing well in France?

Shame. But at least, unlike one of MON's flops, he wasn't too difficult to offload.

I suppose it's better than paying him to play for another club, or not play at all.

Utterly baffling that we brought in a non-EU player without bothering to ask the Home Office what the rules were, then loaned him to a non-English speaking country that is massively in debt so we'd have no chance of renewing his work permit or accruing a sizeable transfer fee.

Good luck Jean II.

Jesus.

MON sacked, Makoun gone.

Is there any end to this sadness?

It's a real shame it didn't work out here. He looked a good player to me, but he was hardly likely to play for us again.

Best of luck with his next club and all that,.

He seems to be doing ok in France. He even scores from time to time!

I'd agree with that.

He didn't get anything like enough of a chance with us, but we managed his situation so piss poorly that he ended up being touted around all over Europe as he lost his work permit here.

At least we're going to get some money for him, even if it is a fraction of the amount we wasted on him.

A perfect example of why changing manager every year isn't a good idea.

Weren't there comments that came out which suggested Makoun didn't like living in this country and had no intention of coming back? I think there's a decent player in there but it sounds like his attitude was all wrong.

Wrong signing for our requirements at the time. It's OK in times of plenty to allow the odd player a few months settling in time but when your boss is trying to cut costs it becomes a bit of a luxury.
