Jim White is a shockingly bad presenter. He just keeps saying the same things to Stan in a slightly different way.

Stan you've got to let it go son, you've been lucky in as much as you've (hopefully) beaten it but don't start being bitter towards the club or any individual - be thankful for what you've had. Positivity and dignity has helped you through all this, don't throw it away now.

That sounds ominous - what is he saying?

Nothing that bad really. Was more about how Villa didn't offer him a playing role, not telling him why ( thought that was obvious ) offered him a different role but he said he wants to end his career playing football.

The sort of thing that only a truly bitter Nose, Stripey or Paul Franks could criticise us for then?

Well listening now he's saying Villa took it away from him. Surprised he said that considering we gave him preseason but it was easy to see he was gone.

Now Danny Murphy going on about there isn't any sentiment in football anymore. Saying it's a no brainer that Villa should of kept him on ...

I disagree with you Daniel like I do most times you speak.

I haven't heard it but it's a shame he has taken this view, the club have always been very supportive and if he thinks an organisation like Talksport gives a shit, other than getting content and headlines he's got a shock coming.

I didn't hear it all but the bits I did listen to were no where near as critical as some are suggesting,
yes he wanted a contract and was a bit hurt when he didn't get it but he accepts this

at the end he said he will always support Villa, its the team in his heart, and he will continue to watch us, wished RDM and the new players all the best, said he hopes we can come straight back up but not if we carry on the way we started

I might have missed the bit where he was giving RDM both barells,
but he certainly hasn't 'taken that view' and still loves the Villa

I can't believe someone of Petrov's intelligence and experience doesn't understand why he wasn't offered a playing deal. Absolutely shocked he can't see why in all honesty

I never thought for a second it'd happen, how the hell could it at his age and with how long he'd been out the game ?

He should be playing local level now and just enjoying himself after winning the biggest of all battles

It sounded to me that he was convinced that he had worked hard enough and achieved the required level of fitness and ability to be offered something in a playing role.
He also said that he was getting positive vibes from the manager and fellow players regarding his performances.
It therefore came as a shock and he seems very upset and let down by the decision. Who wouldn't be?
He went on to say that he will be returning as a supporter as the club and its supporters are very special to him.
You have to take into consideration that this was on Talk Sport, with Jim White and Danny Murphy in the studio, so nobody is going to consider the view from the club or manager's side.

if Danny Murphy had his way every player would have a contract until they were 65 on £100k per week

I remember listening to him when Gerrard was finishing at Liverpool he thought it was a disgrace that they were letting him go and he should have been kept even though his salary was £150k a week

He needs to remember that a football club is a business not a charity.
