Wouldn't it just make more sense to sell them so as ticketless fans don't turn up?

There is no way thousands of Villa are turning up without tickets. Just like there were thousands of Cov and Newcastle who were taking over Villa Park and coming in their thousands without tickets, when in reality there was a few of dozen. It's not the 80's or early 90's anymore.

What I have put on here about the Police blocking any further tickets is what I have heard from the Police and from Villa.

However, I think it stands a fair chance that it will be changed. It is usually a matter of being in the right place at the right time, keeping your ear to the ground and looking after number one.

For example, even if no more tickets are sold at Villa Park, don't be surprised if a late turnstile opens at Wigan. No point telling everyone about it until you get in though.

They will definitely not sell the rest of our end to Wigan, in my view, and it will be kept as an emergency overspill area. Similarly, they may keep a block clear in the side. It would be wrong to do anything other than keep such an area available.

Whatever game they are playing, they must think it is better to try to stop people travelling without tickets, in the knowledge that a few hundred will still go.

I have heard that the Police reason for us not getting more tickets was because of West Ham wrecking the place when they got relegated there.

What difference does it make whether we take 5400 or 3000 to the levels of vandalism that may be carried out on toilets etc?

All they’re doing is creating a situation whereby a lot of Villa will find away into the Wigan end which has its own problems.

It certainly made a big difference a few seasons ago when Blackburn gave us a large allocation - it attracted all the knob heads and the Fernhurst was trashed - as were some areas of the ground I believe.
I sincerely hope we can get an increased allocation and that our fans behave themselves irrespective of the score.

The toilets were trashed at Blackburn the year we won four nil mid-week and took 2000 up there.

Its the Mets job to police and act on intel. I find it bewildering that they can cope with 6000 away fans at a Man derby and 9000 Leeds; two clubs known for trouble, yet baulk at having 5400 Villa with a good reputation.

Clearly the police think that if Wigan send us down it will kick off, and that reducing the numbers will make it more manageable.

When you consider that WM Police now treat virtually all matches as community rather than public order events, you wonder how their Manc  counterparts arrived at this opinion. On the other hand, I have witnessed serial drunken fuckwittery at quite a few away games in recent years.

Not only that but they are giving Wigan an advantge by trying to limit our support.  Ticket or no ticket I can see quite a few fans going there to give the team a final push (if required, of course.  Touch wood we will be safe anyway.)

If it was at VP would anyone be complaining that we had an advantage due to limited numbers of away fans?

I'd expect us to give the same number of tickets we do to other clubs with a big demand: Man U, Liverpool, etc. which is what Wigan should do. Anything else is petty.

If the police are restricting us because a different club act like twats then I think that is grossly unfair and we should complain.

I really believe this paltry allocation is down to Wigan wanting to give us as few tickets as possible, because they know our massive away support would be a big advantage to us. It is a very similiar scenario to when we played Blacburn in the league cup semi at Ewood Park in 2010, we sold our allocation in a few days, and they would not give us anymore despite the attendance being just 16000 on the night because they knew they would be more villa fans than Blackburn fans that night.

Personally i think Wigan will give us 2000 more tickets, the Monday after the Chelsea, because they will be down by then, and Wigan would want to cash in on their last chance of a decent gate, before they slip into championship obscurity.
