The French have a good word for last night "debacle"! The strange thing is if we could defend set pieces we would have got away with a draw!

As for moronic fans. Go away and don't darken the doors of Villa Park or any ground we are playing at!

Well, the morning after the night before.

I am just sad today.

This team does not represent anything that I recognise as Aston Villa FC.

Even when we went down last time, the club still had a aura and presence about it. You knew it would be back.
Now we are just a shambles. We look like every other mediocre, two bit club who aren't good enough to compete at the top level.
Is there anything sadder than witnessing the slow demise of a (once) giant who is just tired and past it ?

It wasn't pretty or good but a better team than this lost to Tranmere 3-1 away and we managed to get to the final after an epic game at VP.

All is not lost - I admit performances have to improve enormously but there is no reason why we can't get to the final!!

Last night I was angry, this morning I am even angrier.
Like I said then I have seen Villa being beaten at Bury, Walsall, Rochdale and Mansfield in the Third Division, and I was there to see us knocked out of The First Round of the FA Cup at Southend, but this is right up there with those lowest ever moments.
The next four games will define our season and Lambert's future, along with some of these young players, some of which he is destroying.
His body language last night was awful, looked like a man who was finished to me.

I feel empty and very low- even though we have been awful of late I really couldn't see last nights debacle happening - what hurts most is the pain we are feeling probably mans nothing to the players who represent us.
They will pick up their £30000 plus a week and carry on with their business- a really sad state this club is now in.

This current team is so bad that it could drop straight through to League One in no time at all.

That one hurt. Too angry to post last night.
No one is playing with pride, everyone is waiting for someone to become a leader on the pitch, no one is showing any interest in becoming that leader.
I thought that Ireland might have imposed himself as some kinda elder driving force in the squad this season, it seems like it is not something that interests him.
Too many of the same type of personality in the playing squad on the pitch. We need a nasty bastard to lead by example. Easier said than done to find one.
Bradford beat Wigan and Arsenal, we didn't afford them the respect that those two victories deserved. We are still in it, but have a mountain to climb. The away goal is precious, but but it's not going to be any use if we won't keep a clean sheet in the home match. We will have to score early and put the pressure onto them to attack and try catch them on the break. Hopefully the easy victory last night will make them complacent in the second leg and we can tear them a new one and begin to restore a bit of pride.

It's not really about bradford anymore to me , I agree we can beat them but if we can be so poor against a side Like bradford how can we realistically hope to avoid relegation - lambert looks to me like a man who knows the game is up .

There is no doubt we care and are hurting today , whether the players feel the same I doubt it.

I with most of what you say Le Lapin, but I don't think it was a question of not respecting Bradford.

I genuinely think that we were are just not good enough.

I was too angry to post last night but just feel sad this morning! Feel even worse for my youngest son who didn't want to go to school this morning for fear of getting teased by the locals.

Yeah, that's the very worrying part to all of this. Someone might have to look at quality control when it comes to new signings. Temper the youth with good potential that we have bought against talent and experience (which costs a lot in wages and goes against Randys current policy). Something has to give. We might need a good clear out in the summer either through relegation or design. Gabby and Ireland are the ones with lots of experience that have disappointed me the most, they are not natural leaders, but they should be bustin' a gut when they do get a chance.
