Somerset to win by an innings.
On what grounds....this is Taunton after all 358 / 6 could have been a wkt or 2 better but even so they may not now achieve their 500 target

Our batting line up looks even more thin than usual and we can't always rely on our middle to lower order, especially as Barker is out of this match.

If Chopra goes early we could be blown away. I know it's at Taunton but there was enough in the pitch early on to suggest there is something for the bowlers to work on.

Granted Somerset's bowling attack doesn't appear to be all that strong.

*I very much hope I have egg on my face come Sunday afternoon.

Although I didn't notice that Trego was out, did I just miss this altogether or did they come back on after the bad light interruption.

They came back after the bad light and completed the full 96 overs. Could have had another wkt = the young twin C.Overton.

Cheers, I had it on all day and turned it over to Peppa Pig when they went off, presuming the light wouldn't improve.

Trouble is, the Bears are 24-2 at lunch.....a duck from Porterfield, Chopra out cheaply. Need a captains innings from Jim!
Westwood will be missing for 4 weeks with a twisted ankle, Barker out for another 5 weeks. Where's Maddy and Rankin? At least we have Bell and Trott for the next 2 County Championship matches.

Rankin is injured and Maddy is in the seconds at the moment which I find quite surprising.

Rankin has now recovered and was supposed to be in line to play in this game. Maddy should be in for Javid. 104/6 at tea - not looking good; need Rikki to score big and someone to stay with him. Somerset's attack isn't that great, our batting is a worry.

Slow and steady now...

Somerset 406; Warwickshire 139/6

Warwickshire trail by 267 runs with 4 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

I don't know then, I'd imagine he would have been an automatic pick with Barker injured and Hannon Dalby looking truly awful.

158 all out but it looks as if Somerset are not going to enforce the follow in.

Strange decision in my opinion.

Were the Bears not allowed to play Bell & Trott or was it by choice?

Jeetan Patel is hardly a daemon spinner, we would have been better served by either getting a better one or a top order batsman.

Somerset look a very strong team, as they did last year. Overton the no. 11 is a pretty impressive bowler for an 18 year old. He'll sign for ManCity soon enough.

To be fair to Patel he was highly effective last year.

Agree we needed a batsman though.

It's a pity Metters doesn't seem to have progressed.
