Odd team selection again , will probably have to wait and see who plays where but seems unbalanced .

That looks a really weak team - Clark the only CB in the squad. Guess he'll play Albrighton and Bennett wide in midfield to protect the full backs, and Benteke up top on his own. Very worried now.

His options are very limited, but that's a scarey looking team.

I struggle to think of a worse Villa team.  Bennett, Stevens, Albrighton and Delph are all way below Premier League standard.  I think our humiliating run may go on for a while yet.

Has Bennett ever played in midfield before? I would have tried Carruthers rather than albrighton , he's more direct and more confident.

Pleased to see the return of Westwood.

Agreed, we sorely missed his ball retention and genuine fight against Wigan.

Bennett and Stevens wing backs, Delph and Westwood centre mid.

Team looks poor. Ireland still can't get into it.

Bennet and Stevens wing backs, Delph and Westwood centre mid.

Both left sided though, not sure if they have ever played right wing back.

I think the trend was always going to continue today, regardless of the first XI picked. Hope I'm wrong.

Wow, is that the youngest team ever? Guzan aside is everyone under 24?

It's arguably one of the worst.  Albrighton AND Delph?  Jesus christ.

You haven't been following Villa for long if you think that's the worst teams we've fielded.

Given the options available, I thinks it's as good as could expect.

now that is a young and leaderless team if ever i saw one. could be messy today. id prefer a standard 4-5-1 and play for a point

I've been following Villa for nigh on 45 years that I can remember (I'm 51) and that looks as bad as any team I can remember and on a par with some of the 86 vintage

So is herd playing midfield , or Bennett?
I'd guess Herd is partnering CC in a flat 4. Bennett left MF. No KEA on the bench?

Albie owes us a big performance today.

KEA has gone off to the ACN apparently. Put your tin hats on, this isn't going to be pretty!

It's definitely another young team, I have no idea if it's the youngest we've put out this season.  The average is 23.34.

09/09/1984   Guzan   28.33
09/06/1989   Lowton   23.58
26/09/1989   Clark   23.28
28/03/1990   Bennett   22.78
04/04/1989   Herd   23.76
05/08/1991   Weimann   21.42
21/11/1989   Delph   23.13
09/07/1990   Stevens   22.50
01/04/1990   Westwood   22.77
03/12/1990   Benteke   22.10
18/11/1989   Albrighton   23.14

I've been following Villa for over 30 years.  Go on then, name a worse team in that time.
