The Arrers
« on: November 21, 2012, 03:49:34 PM »
Anyone watch the Grand Slam in Wolverhampton last week?

See Ted Hankey get a 5-0white washing against that dutch fella, Van Gerwen? Hankey played an absolute shocker, averaged 59 and even missed the board twice, sparking criticism that he was pissed up. Even the bookies stopped paying out because he was playing so poorly. The crowd were giving him some stick and some of the comments he received on twitter were merciless.

Turns out he'd had a stroke.

get well soon, The Count

Used to go every year until Sky waded in, and now the price is ridiculous.

Get well soon The count

Bloody hell! I marked one of his games in the BDO classic in 2009 (I had been knocked out first round)! and then a few months later he won the BDO World Champs on BBC. I didnt see this game but I did see him beat Stevie Beaton in the round robin stage and I thought he looked in good nick!

All the very best the Count, get well soon!

Nine darter by Van Gerwen tonight. And he almost repeated it in the next leg. Missing double 12.

Amazingly he lost that particular set.

Taylor vs Barney in a bit. Should be good.

They nearly had a punch up at the end. Barney's a mentalist.

Taylor is an awkward arrogant tool mind, I wouldn't mind slapping him a few times.

A reasonable darts player. Van Gerwen to win final.

I lost any respect i had for Taylor last night, the interview after the match was toe curlingly embarrasing.

The sucking up that Sky do to him reminds me far too much of Alex Ferguson.

I really, really hope van Gerwen destroys him, although Taylor already got his excuses in during the interview.

i see he's apolagised now, says his behavour was a disgrace, he looked really quite down when interviewed, certainly not in the right frame of mind to go into a final

could be the passing of the crown tomorow night, as Gerwen looks to be the real deal and could be for some years to come

Wish I had the power of my convictions when Taylor was 11/4 after only 2 legs.

Could well turn out to be a classic, so glad I have to get up for work in 6 hours.

My thoughts exactly - the bookies lost the plot and got carried away with the hype of someone in their first world championship final.  Taylor won it despite being way off his best.

Absolute legend.  If he'd done what he's done in any other sport he'd be talked of as one of the greatest sportsmen to have ever lived.

Van Gerwen won last night, that win before the break was the turning point of the game.
He will be a champion for many, many years to come.
