The next four games will define our season, we have to get at least 6 points.
Even with those we need a massive injection of experience in our side in January to have a chance of staying up.

Realistic expectations were we'd do well to come away with 1-0 or 2-0 today.  It sounds as if we may not have been far off that but for a linesman who decided  to invent a couple of handball offences.  Matt Le Tissier said one was a joke, the other extremely harsh and neither should have been given.  It's hard enough against the most expensively assembled team in the league, and you can't really do much when the officials are so clearly intent on sabotaging your efforts.  Shame about the goal difference, the morale, and Reading and Southampton both winning, but points wise it was no surprise.

Right lets get some clarity here!  The football world expected us to lose to Man Utd, Man City and Arsenal. Well we are well on the way to achieving that objective. It doesnt matter one jot if an in form Arsenal turn us over as long as we beat Reading!!!! Then we have to beat QPR
(probably with Harry at the helm) and hopefully take something out of Stoke and for this game we need Nathan Baker at centre half as he is strong and confident in the air.

If hes fit (whether Lambert rates him or not )we need Darren Bent back in the team. It would be lunacy not to pick him for the simple reason that he is a renowned goalscorer, even for us! Unless we score goals we are not going to win games . Benteke will get a few but after that I wouldnt trust another forward to score more than one or two as the season moves on.

You can make as many excuses as you like but the manager should be doing a little bit better than he has so far.

The worry is that what has saved us in the past is a decent start (e.g. O'neils's first season and even last season ) whatever happens we have had our worst start ever in the Premier league. Have we forgotten how to win  game ? It feels like it.

I'm still looking for evidence that Lambert isn't just the latest boss to have one good season in the Premier League with a promoted team, before being totally and utterly found out after that, eg Owen Coyle, Ian Holloway etc, or one that ties to do things "the right way" but is ultimately unsuccessful, eg Mowbray.

He saved an own goal from some City player which was excellent. Probably what he was referring to.
