To be fair, apart from our goal, I think Sunderland carved out the better chances, which is reflected in the MOTD highlights. When you've only got a 10 minute slot, you're hardly going show a succession of corner kicks that come to nothing.
Fair enough but we did have 6 shots on target compared to their one.

Suprprised that a look at our recent form isn't as bad as I thought
Last 11 games = 5 wins, 3 draws, 3 defeats , albeit that does include league cup games but does suggest that we are beginning to get some sort of form .

Three defeats in last 11 games , lets hope we can approach the next 3 with a bit of confidence and self belief.

I was away yesterday and so didn't get to watch this game.

But I was delighted as the text updates came in from a fellow villa supporter!!!

Superb win and by all accounts well earned. I can't wait to see the Highlights at some point today and isn't it great to put MON in the shit?

How sharp did Wiemann look at times? Only seen the highlights but people who watched it there or on streams should we start him more often?
Goals on Sunday showed the final whistle, showed how much it meant to the players, we looked like a team and loved the boo's at the end

Apart from the goal, MOTD showed the 2 Weinmenn shots. They missed the Ireland attempt didn't they? Glad they kept in the Clark tackle, that was superb.

Weimann looked pretty sharp though Barry Horne didn't rate him. Someone put up our record when he' been in the team, something like 6 starts - 5 wins 1 draw (don't hold me to that).

Could be Villa's very own Tim Bresnan.

Be interesting to see the Villa stats with Weimann and Ireland in the team this season.

For those who didn't see it but only saw the 12 seconds of MOTD coverage:

Guzan - 7
Lowton - 7
Bennett (Lichaj - 6) (Stevens)
Vlaar - 7
Clark - 8
Westwood - 8
Bannan - 7
Ireland - 7
Weimann - 7
Gabby - 7
Benteke - 7

That was my quick take based on what I saw in the second half, though I think in the first half, Benteke and Westwood played very well and Ireland was less good.
Clark surprised me, would have had him behind Baker and Herd but had a really good game for me.

I like Lowton and he looks good going forward though he needs to do it more but a pit concerned with some worrying lapses at the back, I think we'll struggle against Utd but may fare better against City and Arsenal as our full backs are up against it with Valencia, Nani and Young.

Westwood looks very composed and he's no world beater but he shows great promise at doing the simple things well unlike Delph.

Ireland looked better when pushed up near Benteke, helped link things well.

Sunderland looked at times like they were trying to walk the ball into the net, tippy tappy style. We used to do that.

this is quite funny off a Sunderland site

"We didn’t deserve to get beaten. yes we did

We probably should have won the game but the ball just didn’t drop for us today. bullshit

We’re not scoring goals, we’ve had people in and around the penalty area, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening for us. never, tell us something we dont know

I could not fault the players’ effort whatsoever. I think it was epitomised by a fantastic performance from Lee Cattermole.what the fuck? how thick are them fucking glasses?

It was as good a performance as I have seen from a player and he didn’t deserve to be on the losing side. speechless

We drove at Villa and tried everything but we were unable to wear them down.drove at them by sending the ball in one direction

We need to be resilient. It’s been tough going and we’ve found ourselves in the situation where we’re not getting goals. fuck off

You wouldn’t think we would have that problem with all of the attacking players we have in the team.we have no attacking players

We have to stick in at it and we’ll come back from this. fuck off

We have to remain strong and be resilient – we’re all in this together."no we arent sort it out yourselves

Did we? I thought we were counter quickly down the channels with as few passes as possible  :o

We were lucky if we tried to walk it into the other team's half under TSM.
