Here's a question - how many different names has it had over the years

UTV
Period   Sponsor   Name
1960–1982   No main sponsor   Football League Cup
1982–1986   Milk Marketing Board   Milk Cup
1986–1990   Littlewoods (retailer)   Littlewoods Challenge Cup
1990–1992   Rumbelows (former retailer)   Rumbelows Cup
1992–1998   Coca-Cola (soft drink)[8]   Coca-Cola Cup
1998–2003   Worthington's (brewer)[9]   Worthington Cup
2003–2012   Molson Coors (brewer)[10]   Carling Cup
2012–2016   Capital One (credit card)[11]   Capital One Cup

I think 'Carling Cup' has been the best one. Rolls off the tongue far better than any of the others.
I refuse to call it anything but "The League Cup"

If I remember correctly the Milk Cup and Littlewoods Cup had their own trophies. I also seem to remember one year of the Milk Cup Liverpool being presented with both trophies. I can't remember if it was just something they did in the early years of the Milk Cup or if one of them was to keep as they won the competition four years running. I think from Rumbelows onwards they have just stuck with the one traditional League Cup trophy.

8.05am train out of New Street - pub by 12.15 until 2.45 (remember afternoon closing ?) then walking down the street wondering how to kill some time to be invited to a 'beer tasting' in some side street hotel (where one of the market researchers remarked that one of our party had "had quite enought already") before back to the pub and then a top result. All capped off by blagging a lift home on one of the coaches last train having long gone.
Oh to be 19 again.
Yes, I managed to blag a lift on a coach home after getting that train. We managed to find a pub open in the afternoon too. A great day.

Yes, I went to both games. After the FA Cup game I  was telling every Norwich fan I saw 'wait til next time, we'll take over the fucking place', and I was right. 'The Bells' was awesome that night. I think we only took about 250 in the FA Cup.
Yes Perce, I thought of that League cup game as soon as I saw the draw last night. 'The Bells' always reminds me of  that night in Norwich. It seemed to be sang constantly through the game.

I went on the Sutton Lions Club coach and we sang 'The Bells' all the way back to Brum, 5 hours continuously. Just when you thought it was going to stop, another group on the coach would keep it going. Coach driver must have been well pissed off but it goes down as one of my favourite away days ever.

I think we played them at home on the Wednesday but only managed a draw. Then played them away on the Saturday and drew again. If memory serves we then played them on the following Tuesday night and thousands turned up, a bit like the Old Trafford game in 88(?), for some reason so many Villa fans just decided to go and what a night. I remember early on in the game and it looked like we'd lost Rideout to an injury, only for him to reappear. After that there was only ever going to be one winner.

The less said about Goodison, the better.

Goodison? The game was bad, granted, but what an exciting trip all round.

Yes very nasty atmosphere wasn't it?.  Remember that game and the game in the title winning season being preceded by two of the maddest coin fights ever.  Never seen so many pieces of silver flying through the air.   I'm sure we had the whole of the one end and some on the side as well, but Everton just seemed to bring twice as many to our place and had the whole Witton Lane if I remember, as well as behind the goal at the North Stand.

Think on balance, the Norwich trip was better :-)

Any indication of the date yet?

Should be Weds 12/12/12............

03/03/03 was a very dark day for our club.
Until recently you could still see Dion's studmarks on the door of the Villa dressing room, which he'd kicked open after being sent off on 03/03/03

I wouldn't say it was a dark day in our history. It was just a defeat, and they all feel the same to me.

Fair enough Damon, but I bet you wouldn't say that if you lived on Chelmsley.

At the very least I hoped to see a couple of my mates with black eyes the next day.

Home tickets are priced at £25 for adults, £15 for over-65s and £5 for under-16s, so i'm assuming ours should be similar?
