I would take Sissoko and Stephens at the moment to strengthen the midfield, and go all out for a good centre half. Oh and riise on a free. No brainer that one.

Yep that'd do for me, just get a fucking move on Villa we need these players in now.

I'd rather we signed Joey Barton.

Barton would do an immediate job for us, even if he is a bit of an idiot he is a very good player.

Hangeland I would risk, dodgy knees or not he seems to play regularly enough at Fulham and we only need 16 games out of him anyway!

I'd have Joey Barton no-where near this club, the blokes a cock. He's more interested in starting arguments on twitter nowadays.

Totally agree clampy.

Fingers crossed we get Sissoko (and an experienced defender).

Aston Villa are set to beat Sunderland to the signing of Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko, 22.

How would signing a 22 year old from French League meet our  most important short coming  of  "team lacking in age and PL experience"?

He's got 5 caps for France and has experience in the Champions league.

I agree, I think the issue is not age but experience. Of course its still a little bit of gamble when a player comes in from abroad you never know how they will settle but for the price and quality of this player I don't think were in a position not to go for him.

I would still like another midfielder in the mould of Petrov in with him as well if at all possible

Michael Johnson the one time "New Stevie G" has had his contract torn up by City. Lets get in there before someone else snaps him up. Martin O Neill has his finger ready to dial.

Riise would make sense and allow Bennett time and space to develop. Either that or we move for Cavanda.
Sissoko is exactly the sort of player we need to shore up the midfield. I dont know much about Stephens but his main plus point seems to be his passing ability and workrate which we could also do with so get him in.
Then another centre half to guard against another crisis there. Maybe Douglas as he shouldnt cost too much with being free in the summer. Or maybe go for Hangeland.
Those four should be within budget. If Randy feels like letting the restraints go a little more then an attacking midfielder/forward like Coutinho would be great and give us more of a threat. As well as create more excitement for long suffering fans.

Hangeland, Stephens, Riise and Sissoko. That way we're bringing Premier League experience into the defence, and much needed energy, quality and strength into the midfield. It should also cost under £10 million. Do it now Villa, stop messing about.

Would be delighted if we got those four in and i think it would keep us up.

I like Riise a lot, he'd do a decent job here for a season or two and take some pressure off Bennett.
