I liked Barry Robson as a player, but he's getting on and he's never played in the Premiership before.

i think a player like robson a Scotland captain would have no problem in the middle for a few matches. I remember season he scored a stunner volley goal in fa cup against newcastle. The getting on means he has footie experience and is a wise head something we need. The more i think about it him and robbie keane and cahill would be welcome loan additions from mls- yeah !!

Brietkruz had the better reputation, Atkinson used to go on about what a great left foot he had, but it was Paul Calf-a-like Beinlich who went on to play for the national team.

I went to watch their debut for the reserves, and thought Breitkreutz looked fantastic, and Beinlich looked "up for it" at best.

Of the midfielders we've been linked to so far the french guy at osasuna is the one that I think fits the bill best, but he's very inexperienced.

A signing like him along with a loan for a more experienced guy would be great.

Douglas - the Dutch office for my Company is in Enschede so most of the staff are Twente fans, when we linked in the summer i asked them about him and they think he's great, good in the air, quick, reads a game well, tackles well, scores goals (good record for a defender at least).  He should be near the top of the list for defense if we can get him now for a reasonable price.

For those who like having a viking at the back Vegard Forren from Molde looks likely to be the next big Norwegian defender, has played in the last few internationals and looks a great player, he'd be a top signing but will probably have a lot of options if he wants to leave.

I know he's a slightly serpent-like tabloid journalist, but Nursey used to give Lerner and Villa a horrible time in the press, then one day they had him for lunch with Lerner and Houllier, and ever since that day - and it really was such an overnight change - he's been both positive about the club, and has had a really good accuracy ratio

He can't "shake it up" that much.  We haven't got the money to sign too many players and I can't see many clubs offering cash for many of our current lot and the wages will prevent us from giving them away.  Four in max I reckon and some of them will be untried potential.

It doesn't take huge amounts, though, does it?

We're not going to see 8 or 9 players in, we'll probably see 3 or 4. So long as they're the right players in the right position, that's all we need.

Yep 4 players who create a spine to the team is sufficient.

Dunno, I reckon we might see 5, of varying levels of first team suitability.

Money for fees isn't, and never was, the problem.  Randy has shown enough times that he's willing to reach in his pocket, he just won't do it to cover the operating costs.

The issue is, however, that we registered 25 players in the squad in the summer, now we can assume Hutton and Warnock won't get spots this time but after that who are we going to drop from the squad?  That said i think we registered a few 21 year olds who we didn't need to so we can probably just remove those.

It's been some time since we had a Fergie cast off so how about Anderson Luís de Abreu Oliveira on loan.
