I keep hearing about Keane, I'm not so sure myself

Keane was probably the difference last season in keeping us up. We could do with his experience with a similar arrangement to last season, unless we sign him on a years deal or something. It's scandalous to think that Lerner only paid about £500,000 in the last Jan window - which was basically Keane's wages. If he only spends that amount in Jan '13 then we're down, and will lose out on a cut of the 70% Sky/BT increased TV money for the next 3 years.

Keane's goals kept us up last season, remember. If we have no cash to spend then he would be well worth a loan deal again. Should Lerner open his purse strings then i would still go for Keane. Relegation would comletely f..k us up.

Looks like this will be the only route open to us along with some unknowns they might find elsewhere in europe as I can't see any UK player wanting to join what is rapidly regarded as a sinking ship.

Seen anything worthwhile on PDC beach Dan?

Lerner is a joke with his austerity measures - he's just pocketed $1 billion by selling the Cleveland Browns. He seems to prefer running the risk of relegation and losing out on the massive increase in the TV money from 2013/14 than backing the manager with serious money to at least try and arrest this 2 year slump since August 2010.

That's the thing Villafirst, the new TV deal will sort our wages/turnover ratio out at a stroke this year, without Lerner and Faulkner having to lift a finger.

I expect all the clubs near the bottom will spend in January and gamble on survival- the rewards are huge.

Keane would be a step up from Ireland imo, 3 goals in 6 weeks compared to 1 goal in 3 years for a start.

Do they have a clue at all? If fuck all happens in January in terms of signings and we are still in the bottom three will the Lerner out protests start? He has been getting away very lightly.

I know Ellis held villa back and his carry on in the mid 1980s was deplorable but under his custodianship you did always feel we were willing to compete and when he finally stopped being able to compete he sold to somebody who he thought would make us compete.

We are so badly led now.

Don't expect Keane to score a hat full of goals though.

But just his experience and willingness might be beneficial, with the odd important goal, would suit us at the moment

At least with Doug he was hands-on at the club 24/7, and he would talk to the media. This American treats it like a play thing he's got bored with and now justs seems to ignore it. How many games has he attended this season?

As long as we get to see him pointing a lot i'll be happy. When I think of him, I think of pointing. Oh, and the mosaic he had done in his swimming pool when he lived in Wetherby, surprisingly it wasn't one of him pointing.

It will no doubt be yet another of his boyhood dreams come true if he were to return to Villa.

Well, one can mock, but someone who points a lot could be invaluable. B-lose came up with, as usual, an unspeakably shit team with very little top flight experience in 2002/03, and owed their survival almost exclusively to that twat Savage, who more or less showed the entire rest of the squad exactly what to do. Well, him and Dugarry.

Keane's only a year older than when he lit us up for a few games last year, and will be good for the odd ninety minutes, the odd hour, and the odd twenty minutes off the bench. He has technique, experience and an eye for goal. If we're going to go for him though, we don't want to be hanging about 'til the end of January like last time. Let's get the full two months, or longer if possible, this time.
