They've already got a pretty good keeper haven't they?

Yes, Forster who looked quality against Barcelona. The only way I could see Given going to Celtic would be if a deal has already been agreed for Forster to move on.

What about us? Pretty sure Lambert had Fraser Forster on loan at Norwich?

Interesting, I didn't know that. I think Celtic would have a high valuation with how well he's been playing and I would imagine we would be looking for a back-up keeper with Guzan playing as well as he has.

Did Lambert rotate his keepers much at Norwich?

That has made my day. Great news. Enjoy where the journey takes you Stew. Ha Ha.

What goes around comes around. In all seriousness I am struggling to think of anyone who will come in for him. None of the top clubs will want him and the decent teams above us have all got players who do what he does.

martinoneillsslumberland is my bet, and when he fails to shine there he'll get real stick from the fans for his 'Boro past. Such a shame. Not

Downings last season here he was player of the season but Liverpool was a bad fit for him and its not always a case of the grass being greener- he is a shadow of the player who left here and they will struggle to get more than £8m for him.

This is the kind of wheeling and dealing Villa need to do!  Get shot for £20 million in 2011, surplus to requirements in 2012!  Somehow I think Liverpool will be making a loss!

I never rated him.

He's a coward of a player, and not just his fanny challenges but how he uses the ball.

Mazrim put his finger on it in another post regarding Michael Carrick.

No doubt Sunderland are interested in him.

Liverpool will make a profit & Downing will get a rise.

Disagree that Liverpool were a bad fit: they were crying out for a winger to supply Carroll and Suarez; Our Stewart delivers a mean cross and had beeen our POTS in the previous season.
What happened was a significant dip in form from Downing and then a new manager.

Incidentally, SD's rollercoaster form is attributed in some parts of the North to a problem with the Columbian marching powder (he seems to spend quite a lot of his weeked evenings in establishments in my town) ... but I can't corroborate that.

Columbian marching powder, all the more reason not to touch him with a sticky stick. Fucking liability.
