Bent out.

That can be painful and phsyiotherapy or a minor operation may be required to bend it back in.

Mikael Silvestre is on Soccer AM, lives 80 miles from Villa Park, has no club and is an ex international centre or full back. Could be handy until January?

From what the Arsenal fans say about him, definitely no.

Always do the exact opposite of what an Arsenal fan says.

To be honest I'd be tempted to bring in 1-2 experienced players. Not neccesarily Silvestre, though he's actually better than what we have (or was better). Think he's probably a busted flush now.
But...
I'd bring in...
wait for it...
Nigel...
Reo...
Coker!!!!
Let shooting commence.
Seriously, we need more commitment. More players like Holman, as Coker is. Always gives 110 and we're sorely lacking in midfield experience. He's better than Bannan and Delph, not technically, but in what he does well he's got more strengths for this level.

EDIT- Fuck, he's got himself a club. Put down the rifles.
Carew's a free agent! ;)

I think we will see Bent go in January and whatever we get for him being used to get our midfield enforcer and playmaker, but I think Bent will only fetch about 8 mill, so those two requirements will come from that, RL may allow a bit for a steady defender but again I am not holding my breathe, I dont see the money being poured out this time and come May I think we may get what 4 years of bad management from both the board and the incumbent manager at those times. My god I hope I am wrong, but a horrible feeling I wont be.

The other scary thing is, even if we spent about 40 mill on getting 2 or 3 proven players in, I still believe the best we would be is a mid table team, alot better than where we are now, but how the mighty have fallen Proud History Not so bright Future.

We are missing quality out wide something shocking. We have no-one to create chances for our strikers. I reckon we could do a lot worse than bring back Peter Whittingham. Very surprised he is still at Cardiff. Any of Bannan, Albrighton or Delph could be used to trade.

Andy Reid too seems to be back to his best. Set up a load of goals for Bent at Sunderland. Ive always been a fan of the tubby one

I think bent will go for more than £8m but dobt we would get much more than £12m for him- Liverpool may try and offload downing to raise cash if they want bent.

Getting rid of Bent would be mental. If we create chances he will score them. He scored the goals that got us out of a relegation battle 2 years ago and will do it again . If we are to trade out a forward it should be Gabby

I agree about bent but we are not playing to his strengths and I can't see lambert changing his style just to accommodate bent, I think he will be sold , as for gabby 28 games without a goal , he is hardly a saleable asset, who would want him?

With quality like young and downing bent would score a hatful, but we have no quality in those areas now and bent has no supply- sad state of affairs.

I've heard from a few places that, as always, he's got some mad buy out clauses in his contract. If that's true, they'll have to pay a lot more than £8 million for him.

Depends on circumstances, if villa want to sell him then they will accept the going rate, if bent has £20m clause or whatever then nobody would be interested and we would be left with a player on the bench and little or no money to spend- £12m seems about the value I'd expect , maybe £15m if there's a bidding war, but I can't see it .

if he has a buy out clause, it will be higher than the one we payed, or the whole thing would be daft

Exactly and who would be interested at £20m or so?

If villa want to sell however we would accept less than a buy out clause , the buy out clause is more for his benefit if villa didn't want to sell.

We need a serious ball winner in midfield.
We've got, KEA, Bannan, Ireland who can play and pass
But, we haven't got anyone who'll roll their sleeves up and do the sh*tty jobs. I'm not saying NRC or Essien, but that type of player.

We should have taken Reo Coker. Owen Hargreaves on a pay as you play and Tom Huddlestone on loan are my shouts.

What other team in the history of football would say 'Let's get rid of our best goalscorer in 30 years' rather than 'How do we help our goalscorer to score goals?' If Benteke is today's Withe and Bent is Shaw, where are Morley and Cowans?

The answer should be Nzogbia and Ireland, but they are mercenary gits who need telling that they will be rich until they die, but they only get one chance at achieving something in football.
