Eastie: The character, Godber, was the Villa fan. I vaguely recall somebody upsetting him by slagging us off. A Man Utd fan I think it was.

The bloke who ironically went on to play the Brummie hotel owner in Boon.

Adil Ray who writes and stars in Citizen Khan is a Villa fan as well. The episode where they go to the pub had a guy wearing a Villa shirt and the board outside advertised Villa vs Liverpool being shown.

Are you openly admitting you watched it?

I watch it. It reminds me of the halcyon days of Mind Your Language.

Some quite nice scenes of Sparkhill and Birmingham City centre as well.

The best thing I can say about that Citizen Khan rubbish is that it isn't very funny.

Godber actually mentions Villa in the programme. i remember him mentioning playing someone like Hartlepool in the Cup and I think he said we lost 2-0.

I have to watch it. The muslims at work moan about it being an attack on Islam, I like to keep abreast of the latest slur on Mohammed.

I've spoken to him on Twitter about the Villa as well, seems like a decent bloke. Thought i'd help a brother out by boosting the viewing figures and he's got a second series so good for him.

At least he uses local actors so the accents are actually manageable on the ear. He's one of us so i'm glad he's doing alright out of it.

Careful lads, touchy subject. I have to sell this fanzine in the middle of Aston.

Can't you say something funny about Christ instead? Christians are much more easy going.

Nobody could accuse Citizen Khan of saying anything funny about Islam.  Or anything funny at all to be honest.

I did laugh at the ginger joke in episode 1.  OK, it was clumsy, obvious and gingerist but it still made me chuckle.
