It's our most popular chant. Anyone noticed how it's catching on with other clubs fans too :-)
The saints fans were singing it back at us on Saturday after they took the lead !!

Im not even sure about the "it's your round my lord" verse to be honest

I wonder how many of our supporters who sing this song , have actually seen him play in a Villa shirt .

Or know anything about his life.
Me. He is a true footballing legend.

I think it's time to stop the 19 minute thing.
Stan knows how we feel.

I asked Paul on Twitter about the song that we sing and if it was ok. He replied "flattered". He may just be going with it to not drag up the issue though.

I actually like the 19th minute applause. I hope we just keep doing it even after Stan is (hopefully) well again.

Its a nice little tradition and lets face it, we dont have that much that makes us special in a good way right now.

Agree with the no respect thing though. We shouldnt expect other teams fans to join in. Its nice if they do but no big deal if they dont.

There's a bunch of lads who've had a few beers and they've got a reportoire that they'll stick to whether that song is appropriate or not.

Hence "no respect" (even if respect has been shown), "shit support" (even if the opposition support is not at all shit), and "this ground's a shithole" (whether you're in Fratton Park or the Emirates).

Having said I did notice "empty seats my lord" was sung a lot less last season.  Thank goodness.

So let me get this right.  You're suggesting that Villa fans continue to applaud at the 19th minute of a game, even when there's no reason to, because we're short on tradition. Interesting concept, being as we're amongst the oldest clubs in the country and a founder member of the football league.

Ignoring the initial reason for the thread (I don't think man city sang anything of the sort but I might be wrong):

http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=267989

but you can see plenty of posts saying how they had absolutely no idea about the 19th minute and seem a bit baffled about the whole no respect thing.

For some of our supporters this is now less about Stan and more a chance to wind the opposition up. We'e got some twats following us.

This.  I think some don't even bother with the applause, they just stand there waiting to sing 'no respect'.

Yes - it's being used as a stick which is wrong
