Apart from maybe Yorke was there anyone ever as skilful and powerful than Dalian in his heyday?  He really was majestic.

We shouldn't forget that we were gutted when Dalian got injured during the run in of the '92/'93 season and we had to 'settle' for the untried Yorke in his place. I would say it was around '95 when Yorke progressed to being the real deal.

I was at Anfield the day he got injured, he'd looked as good it that first half as I'd ever seen him, they were petrified of him. He pulled up, and then they scored straight after, I remember thinking we'd got no chance in the second half.

Trial starts on Tuesday, such a long time has passed. RIP Dalian.

Article about Dalian's time in Spain here. Bit about Rico as well

Fascinating stuff. He obviously turned it on in the bigger games - the list of Spanish teams there is impressive and obviously he often scored against Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool here too plus the two  crucial ones vs Tranmere. I think he scored in all of the first three Premier League home games against United.

I know it's only one side of the story but based on what the court heard today those two coppers sound like absolute wrong uns.

Tasering someone for half a minute while they're unconscious is ridiculous.

Dave has asked that people stick to facts, and the thread in the main forum is locked. My very basic legal understanding is that discussing the facts of a case is OK, but giving any opinion on whether people involved are guilty or not could end up being a serious contempt of court issue.

It's not a surprise if Villa fans want to express their thoughts if they've read the publicly available reporting of Dalian's death today.

I've read The Guardian's reporting. Maybe when the verdicts are in?

When the verdicts are in you can say what you like, within the usual bounds of libel and legality. Until then, stick to the reported facts of the case.

In a nutshell, yes.

I don't quite get the legal side of things, but is Munk denying murder and manslaughter or kicking Dalian twice in the head?

I'd be astounded if West Midlands Police decide to prosecute a random person on the internet for commenting on a court case as high profile as this one.

It's sub judice. Trials have been jeopardised for less.
