Can't remember the last time I was so shocked to hear of the death of somebody. RIP Dalian thanks for the great memories.

Nothing about the tragedy on the OS yet but ironically there's an 'On This Day' feature with a picture of Dalian in our first game in the newly formed Premier League

edit: On OS now

Could anyone "translate"for me the official police statement? Does it mean the police was called as apparently someone was in trouble and they tasered Dailian, believeing he is the offender?
Shocking news no matter what the truth behind the incedent is. As many already mentioned my childhood memmories of Villa are also connected with him.
Found this title strange in a way "Former Aston Villa Striker Dies 90mins After Being Tasered by Police"...

They've posted on twitter with some pictures of him and Xia posted a link to the wimbledon goal earlier.

I've been out all morning and came home to find that my daughter had rang with this devastating news.  I'm absolutely distraught.

I have posted previously that me and a mate brought a bunch of fifteen year olds over on a football trip in 1994.  I had written to the Villa and asked if possible could they meet one or two players.  We were privileged to be escorted from the public viewing area at BMH and taken over to the extreme pitch to watch, close up the days training.

When training was over, the kids were getting autographs and, the last man in was Dalian, not only did he oblige our lads but, he went to the public area and signed for the other kids that were there.  I have a wonderful photograph of him signing for my then fifteen-year-old son.  That autograph along with all the others sits proudly in our daughters old bedroom here.

Goals apart, Dalian, you will never be forgotten in this house.  As I said, I'm distraught.  RIP.

Most things already been said.
If Dalian had had the same attitude and application as he did natural ability he could have been one of the greatest players of all time - and not just for us.
Pace, power, skill, guile, two footed, instinct - he really did have it all

I remember him saying after the Tranmere game that he could not remember the score when he scored!

I am sure like others a true hero at a time when we were a club on the cusp of greatness

Thanks for everything Dalian - you will not be forgotten

Would it be better if we talk about the possible details of what happened on another thread?  Sorry for being a tad precious but I don't want to get involved in all the inevitable speculation and gossip.
