Can I also point out the importance of this game. Swansea at home, for the second season in a row, comes at the most opportune time. Last season we beat Chelsea away and then were meekly battered by Swansea at VP and spurned the chance to kick on. This season, a win and we can take that confidence into the Southamption game and hopefully get 4-6 points out of the 2 games and show what we are all about. Massive game for the same reason as last. Different manager, different mentality. Lets hope a different response.

Agree Jim, especially as we face the Albion at home after those two games.

I didn't notice that this thread had started before we'd even played Newcastle. My first thought was 'christ we mist have played well, people can't even wait for the next pre-match thread'.

For what its worth, I'd keep faith with a successful team.

It's a bit of a novelty being able to debate which of our 4 strikers should be left out.

I'd be tempted to do that Steve.

However, I think Lambert could be the first manager we've had for as long as I can remember who looks as if he can properly utilise a squad and pick a starting 11 from the players available to him who can snuff out the threat of the opposition and exploit their weaknesses to get a result, rather than just relying on the same tactics and the same palyers week in, week out, whoever our opponents are.

We could well see a few changes from the side that faced Newcastle, as Swansea offer a diffrent kind of proposition to Newcastle and I think he'll pick a side to deal with them accordingly.

I'd make 3 changes from yesterday with Bennett for lichaj, benteke for Weimann and Westwood for bannan.

I think the diamond could be the way o go again v Swansea, given the way they play. We need numbers in central midfield. I think I'd bring in Bennett for lichaj and either gabby or benteke for weimann.

I have a feeling we're going to turn them over. And I think CNZ in behind the strikers could cause them real problems. But I think that may be a second half substitution

Gabby for Weimann. Otherwise, keep the same side.

My team, now considering the Newcastle performance would be;

-------------------Guzan-------------------

---Lowton----Vlaar---Clark----Bennett---

--------------------KEA---------------------

------------Ireland-----Holman------------

-----------------Agbonlahor----------------

--------------Bent--------Benteke---------

Subs; Given, Baker, Bannan, Delph, Lichaj, Westwood, Wiemann.

I know that is an awfully attack minded line up, but its about time we stopped fannying around and stamped our authority on Villa Park and send out a message to the rest of the Prem, Everton was a one off!

As well I think Holman's energy yesterday was fantastic, Gabby looked quick as ever when he came on and Karimel was class. Pace, Power and attacking intent!

I think if we are to get the best out of Gabby, he needs to stop being played out of position (as such) and needs to be right up top.

I'd go with that side other than gabby , I'd use him as an impact player off the bench and start Westwood alongside el ahmedi, with Holman and Ireland making up the midfield.

I havent got a clue on our best team now... all i do know from what ive seen:

Ireland, Vlaar, Lowton, Guzan, KEA all deserves to keep their places

Nzog, Given, bannan, fonz,  can be dropped...

Wiemann, Gabby, Holman, Baker, Clarke, Delph have shown quality so could be in team:

I cant make my mind up on bent and know very little about Benteke! so the front line up is one im struggling with too....

Gabby = pace, as shown against newcastle, teams hate it
Bent = Finisher always handy to have as it wins games
Wiemann = can be magical in moments that have won us games
benteke = target man when under pressure but dont know much about him (will he be a super sub?)
fonz = dont think he is good enough

Same team as against Newcastle, but with two changes. Bennett in for Lichaj and Benteke for Weimann. Shame for Weimann, but I can't wait to see what Benteke can do.

Westwood on the bench and replacing Bannan in the second half. I'd like to see him start, but makes sense to ease him in.

Really excited with our progress against Newcastle but feeling a bit weary about Swansea, they're a real class act as we witnessed at VP last season and already this season they look good and have strengthened.

As long as people don't just expect us to turn them over, worried that yesterday's game has got people (myself included) slightly ahead of themselves. Having said that our squad is suddenly looking a lot stronger and competition for places will improve everyone's performances - great news!

On another note, God, VillaTalk is depressing...
