I never rated him after seeing a few of the roastings he got live at Villa Park, however, as these were under some of the darkest hours of Lambert's reign I am more than happy for him to be given another go.
The other thing about Bennett's time in our first team is that the CB weren't particularly good in supporting the FB. With the inprovement in Clark, Bennett might well look like a decent LB.

Maybe the improvement in Clark and Baker had had something to do with not having to play next to the likes of Bennett, Luna and Stevens.

Potentially true. It's all conjecture at this point as Lambert's shadow looms large over so much of all their Villa careers. One thing that I am pretty sure about is that none of Bennett, Luna, Stevens or Rico are as good as Bertrand was for us so I'd be looking at a new LB even if we hold onto Bennett/Rico.

I didn't mind Bennett as much as some did, I often wondered if he was worth a punt in midfield.

I thought the same thing regarding seeing him in midfield.

Bertrand had a good debut but quickly went to crap under Lambert. It was incredible how a guy could have quite a good eye for a player and then how quickly he could make them look crap.

Do we know what's happening with Joe Bennett ?

I see that he's no longer shown on the Pravda squad page

in the new bomb squad. The difference being this version actually contains only shit players that we should be trying to get rid of as opposed to players who actually might be able to help us.

He's just not very good, with a touch of luck we can get an offer for him before his contract expires.

I'm surprised Boro haven't come back for him. He was highly regarded there.

Probably the worst of Lambert's first signings. He demonstrated good attacking skills on a few occasions but his defending was largely woeful. It's a shame because I had quite high hopes for him when he first came.

He wasn't really regarded that well up there to be honest. My family is from Middlesbrough and they always said he wasn't good enough.
Saying that I like him for some reason, if you could get him really confident, I think he could be ok.
