Ironic really how Hendrie gave us ten years service and some great moments in that time yet he's disliked so greatly. On the other hand poor old depressed woman beating, waste of oxygen Collymore is a Holte End hero?
Judging by the interview, he seemed more concerned that he'd let his family down more than himself. I liked him as a player, i can't speak for what he's like as a person because i've never met him. He earned stupid money and he handled it badly. Let's just hope a few of our younger players read the article.
The thing that strikes me about these kind of articles is that we're meant to assume the misery was too high a price to pay for the glory years. The guy played for the club we love, had flash cars, big house, women on tap...and now he's broke he's all contrite about it. I'm sure being bankrupt isn't pleasant but he's had more opportunities to look after himself and his family than most of us will ever get and he fudged it massively.
He was a fantastic player for us, whenever his contract was coming to an end.The rest of the time he was pretty much bobbins. Funny that.
