Like the sound of this if true

@JamesNursey: Told yesterday at #AVFC that Bent won't be sold, that Lambo backs himself to get N'Zogbia going and that Makoun coming back for new chance

With Ireland, N'Zog, Holman, Makoun available, and Herd, Carruthers, Gardner, Bannan and Albrighton also in the mix for midfield Lambert does have the makings of a very good central unit.

And with Delph, Lichaj, Clark and Baker (I'll leave Stevens out of this for the time being!), there is also a good starting point for defence. A couple of experienced reliable and footballing defenders and we're getting there.

Everytime one of these low value punts comes off for another club we always ask "Why can't Villa find a player like that?"  What we don't hear about, however, is all the low value punts clubs take that don't pay off.  For instance, how many fans outside VP, or Ireland, have ever even heard of Enda Stevens?

My point being, there are players like Enda Stevens at every PL club, but you only ever hear about the ones that make it.  But if you don't try a few of them, you won't find your Dwight Yorke.

Possibly, but of those players, how many have performed to a good standard in the epl over the last couple of years? None. Ireland, CNZ have done it in fits and starts. Albrighton fir half a season. And the rest the odd game here and there or never had the chance.

I genuinely don't know if with the right coaching and management, we'll become a completely different outfit.

Talking of coaching and management, anyone heard anything yet on Culverhouse and Karsa? Hughton is meant to be taking half his backroom staff to Norwich with him, so presumably they should be available?

Mate knows Culverhouse sister, they live in Hertfordshire. She says he had some concerns re travelling as didnt want to move his kids, but is apparrently certainly coming. He dont think much of Holt, apparently as a person

I think we will be, one of the reasons I wanted PL over an RM or BR type.

I think the interesting thing to watch now will be what happens with Dunne, Collins and Warnock with only a year left on their over-inflated contracts!

I heard yesterday evening that PL's first big decision is that he has decided to change the dugouts next season.  The home dugout will now be the one closest to the holte end.  It's good to get the really big decisions done early in your tenure I think!

Seriously though does anybody have thoughts on why he might have taken this decision?

Maybe he has a left and right superstition? These sports people are mental with their superstitions.

Maybe he's deaf in his right ear, so he won't hear any potential abuse.

It's nearer to the Holte so he won't get so tired when he has to run towards it when we score loads of goals!

I am surprised you have a clue what unkempt means, though am sure you have been told you are a drunken bellend on many occassions :)

Thanks for the info, hopefully on the evidence of it Culverhouse is joining and Holt isn't

It is pretty tough to expect a 21 year old to go from Shamrock Rovers to the Premier League in one jump.

Without sounding funny......Then why sign him in the first place?

Because he has potential and came cheap. Doyle, Coleman and Mclean have shown that singing League of Ireland players can be a shred move.

I really wish the notion that players of 21, 22, 23 etc have potential. They have potential at 16, 17, 18. By the time they get to 21 they should have made the grade or not. They aren't kids anymore!

Wasn't Ian Wright 21 when he was spotted?
