I don't think it is going to happen, which will be a massive shame.

Holt asking for a transfer at Norwich may well tip Lambert over the edge there.

An informal chat with no negotiations, it is a bloody expensive way to arrange an informal chat.

See I'm skeptical on that, I just don't believe you fly someone over for an 'informal' discussion. I know Solskjaer said that, but it could just be the party line.

Other candidates then,so why cant randy stay and interview the other candidates rather than keep flying back, my money for lambert is not blown after all, i suppose randy will return next week and we will seewho the next candidate will be - the plot thickens.

This is what is irritating. Can't they just arrange an interview day or days to see all interested parties all in one week, rather than getting all excited about one candidate who then just blows us out?

Maybe they could do some team exercises as well, building things out of pipe cleaners and plasticine, followed by a competency based interview around the core competencies of fast, flowing football, scoring from corners and not picking Emile Heskey.

You don't send a private jet and also bring a candidate's wife along for preliminary talks.

You might not. I always send the jet to pick up those I might be working with. And their other half.

And I don't like people who don't.

I'm with PaulWinch - this informal/preliminary talks could just be a white lie to get him through Molde's game on Sunday and keep us from getting too excited.

And who are the other candidates? Liverpool? Very much doubt that his united connections would go down well with their support. Chelsea won't either, and I'm not sure he'd consider managing anywhere else other than england, such is his connection with the place.

According to the Man U forum he was a Liverpool fan as a kid. It's fair to say that they'd rather he came to B6 than go to Klanfield.

Maybe Randy has gone back, because the deal is essentially sorted and Faulkner just needs to complete the formalities.

Now you've got me worried - Faulkner to complete the deal? Get Steve Stride in to sort it!

Keep calm and chive on!

He means villa have other candidates to speak to, not that there are other clubs after him.

My thoughts also. He won't want any distractions for his Molde side's game. Christ, what a bunch of uptight fannies we have on this site. Relax...

I fully expect to hear that villa have asked for permission to speak to lambert in the next few days, remember faulkner likes to do at least 2 interview processes with potential managers and ogs is just one of the candidates - not worried either way if ogs takes it or not, impressed with him but lets see who else is on the shortlist .

Not really.

Well I am, and that's what's important.

Nope- its not as if we are talking about mourinho or guardiola is it.

Liverpool are expecting to talk to up to 12 candidates, i expect we will be looking at 3 or 4 .

It's not about the individual but the scenario. Couldn't the club have had held a conference call to discuss preliminary expressions of interest? Instead we have had the fanfare of private jets etc, followed by a damp squib.
