Am I the only one who remembers these sort of things happening in the past?  In the old days before camera phones and the internet, news spread by word of mouth, so the majority of fans wouldn't have known about it.  It's not right and it's not clever, but sometimes it happens, always has, and when young men and alcohol come together, probably always will.

Arguably our best player ever turned up to games intoxicated, so why are so worried about an incident which, let's face it, if it wasn't for someone and thier phone wouldn't have even made the news.

They have apologised, time to move on - although the two of them that will play this weekend need to put in a performance and a half.

Billy Walker turned up intoxicated...when?

Billy Walker was a bit of a piece of work, all round.

I think Mcliesh comments were inappropriate, I always think how do the best Managers handle these situations, they dont use words like " a slur on the club" because it isnt.
Its a few players having a few to many and getting into a bit of bother, unfortunate, stupid and daft.
A proper Manager would simply say, I am aware of the incident, I have spoken to the players and let them know that they have let The Club down, they have been disciplined and that is the end of the matter.

Nonsense. They should be lashed to the Birmingham Wheel and spun around until they can take no more. Then they should be driven along Broad St whilst being whipped until they reach the doors of Gatecrasher (wherever that is), where they'll be forced to walk on all the broken glass from the night before til they repent. Then, and only then, might they be allowed to play for us again.

The Birmingham Wheel isn't here anymore, so that'd be problematic.

Two things:

This has been happening since time began, young adults pissed up and regretting their actions the following day. It's just in todays age we have the technology so you are forever in shame.

This has nothing to do with the boss. If I go out tonight and cause a scene, I am accountable not my boss.

This.

Villa side is playing poorly.Lads get disrupted.Decent manager brings them back into line.

This will become evident to you in time.

For once mcleish is spot on with his comments!
Maybe, but a bit of Pot & Kettle comes to mind here but for different reasons and on a grander scale.

Is it not bleeding possible in one fucking thread not to bash the bloke? This has nothing at all to do with him. He has said exactly the right thing, and it is what all of us are thinking. If you want to beat the bloke up, and we've pretty much all had a go recently then there are 500 other threads to do it.
My last say on this then. 1/ His comment has everything to do with him. 2/ As I said earlier his comment could have been "It has been dealt with internally, the players fined and the money donated to charity". 3/ Not everyone is thinking like you as I for one am not.
The players are bang out of order and have embarressed themselves and the club. Apologies have been made and hopefully we can all move on. If the club decided to move the players on then fine. The sooner this sorry season is over the better and fingers crossed on to bigger and better things next year. If that comment had come from Aston Villa, Graham Taylor, Gordon Cowans, Ian Taylor or the like I could have accepted it.

when I said everyone is thinking what he said, it means that like him we are all disappointed. However, you have decided to turn this into an anti-McLeish rant, as opposed to blaming the players. These are grown men accountable to themselves first and foremost. They are not the manager's responsibility. If we had Mourinho in charge would you be so vocal in blasting the manager when it is all the player's fault.
I am of the same opinion of the players as you and just about everyone else on here.  If I or Mourinho put in the shift that matched someone that I won't mention then I wouldn't be so quick to to use "a slur on the club".
