Lovely memories, thanks. I'll never tire of seeing Dalians goal.

I remember being in my usual bottom right Holte position against Ipswich thinking 'don't shoot from there' followed moments later by 'fucking hell!'

Garry Parker is rarely mentioned these days but that has reminded me what a fine player he was

Parker was one of my favourite Villa players from the '90s. scored some fantastic goals for us, but for some strange reason he's been forgotten about. It bugs me that average joes like Mellberg, Laursen and now Cueller are talked about as if they're "legends", when far better players like Parker barely get a mention.

Garry Parker was a good player and is just one of a few from that team that don't get mentioned very often.  Kevin Richardson was a real leader in the midfield and formed a good partnership with Parker.  Ray Houghton was also a very good player who had real quality on the ball.  I also really rated Earl Barrett and remember that Ryan Giggs used to say back then that he was his hardest opponent.

I remember watching a programme on Sky, about players that had played in the first season of the Premiership (when football was invented), and what they were up to now. Gary Parker was working as a painter and decorator. When you think of all the shit we've had down VP since then, that are now multi millionaires, who will never have to work another day in their lives, it makes you sick!

One of my favourite seasons watching Villa as well.  Looking back, there were some real solid, quality footballers in that side with the likes of Barrett, McGrath, Staunton, Houghton, Richardson and Saunders.

On the coaching staff at Celtic now though, looking super-tanned.

He was a bit fat and lacked pace, but he was a proper footballer.

That team goal against Wednesday is still astonishing. If Barcelona scored that this season, they'd be talking about it for years, as they still are with Cambiasso's goal for Argentina in the 2006 World Cup.

The moment that electrifies me though, is when Atkinson has taken the ball through the midfield, and just before he lobs the keeper he stops for half a second as if to say "Is everybody watching? Good, then look at this."

if you're the guy that runs on and looks like he tries to lift Parker up by the shorts then I think you are definitely on there ha ha

Ah just watched it on my PC quickly, when the ball hits the net you can see you running from the stand towards the pitch but that's it. It was definitely on the original vhs though.

Yeah that's me haha Roger Milford told me to f**k off lol It was only when I turned to run back that I realized how far I'd ran, edge of the bloody area!! Stewards were legging it from both sides of the stand to get me and I managed to dive back in the crowd. Good old days!! I'll see if I can get the vhs tape put on a dvd.
Cheers DM, up the Villa!

If I remember correctly, that incredible Dean Saunders volley against Ipswich wasn't even one of the goals you could vote for on Goal of the Month!

It's funny how that goal changes in my mind over time, when I think of it now I picture Deano striking the ball from practically in his own half.

Great goal though

Christ almighty, what a side that was.

Compare and contrast with the eye-bleedingly horrible shit of this season

What a great season, just a shame we ran out of steam at the end.

BFR should have kept in-form Dwight in the team instead of the returning Dalian. Dean Saunders goal output had also dried up but he was still playing well - I recall he hit the post several games on the trot during the run in. Of course it didn't help Man United getting 25 mins overtime vs Sheff Wed.
