David Platt?

No fcuking chance.  I'd put him behind Steve Hodge, Martin Keown and Stewart Downing in the list of my preferred Villa managers.

Not sure if his name has been mentioned yet but saw that Slavan Bilic is leaving the Croatia National job at the end of Euro 2012. He has always said he wants to manager in the Prem.

Not sure on him tbh but surely he would be a candidate?

I think Bilic would be a great shout as long as Lerner & co managed to see past their "must have premiership experience" stumbling block.

The AVB link makes me laugh, sounds like Aston Villa Bollocks to me?

People are honeslty suggesting Holloway ? Jesus wept, I would honestly rather have McLeish.  People have short memories!

Billic has done nothing as a manager to warrant his reputation.

Also re Poyet, I am a Brighton fan, and have seen them live many more times over the last couple seasons than I have Villa. I doubt very much if he is what we are after. Brighton play good football, but he has spent plenty of money and ridden a bit of a wave. He seems a bit naive at times and that would get punished in the prem. imo

Would rather Marnitez or Lambert.

Agree with lambert or martinez but disagree that mcleish would be better than holloway- holloway or bilic would be vastly better than mcleish in the way their teams play.

Think Bilic would be a good appointment. In all honesty I can't see AVB coming here but not harm in trying. The likes of Martinez,Rodgers & Lambert don't really get me excited. One swallow doesn't make a summer & all that but hey, anything would be better than the current manager!

Just hope we get rid on Sunday evening & then get someone in asap so they can have a decent pre-season & get settled! I wont hold my breath though!  :(

Thought AVB had agreed to take over at Roma?

He has to work somewhere. Luis Enrique has just resigned at Roma but former striker Vincenzo Montella is favourite to take over.
That still leaves about four other Italian clubs and Valencia to go.
Italian clubs love to swap and change their coaches on a regular basis, not sure if AVB would appreciate that level of instability, having not even managed to last a season at Chelsea. The most interesting thing of the rumour is the "five year project". I reckon that would be right up his street.

Well I guess we can cross Stale Solbakken off the list as he's become the new manager of the dogheads.

AVB is young and he is still learning his trade. Why not do it here during a long term plan? He would still be young in five years time if he fancies a new challenge.

We should soon be able to cross off Fiorentina from AVB's list as it looks likely Claudio Ranieri is going to be their new coach.

AVB is just this years Ancelotti.

More worryingly than any of it is that the current buffoon is still in charge and thinks he is doing a good job. I think he has been on a bender before making statements to this effect.

As I said earlier, he's got to work somewhere.

The Italian options are falling by the hour as it now looks like Luis Enrique having left Roma could be on his way to Génova, another club AVB was rumoured to be shortlisted for.
