Fuck it, give it to Keegan. We may well get beat but at least we'll see a Villa team having a go at scoring a goal

Its also part of what he does, He cant possibly think that he was just trying to keep his best player and it worked!

Roy Keane anyone?

There would be no problems getting a letter from Ferguson...

You say he didn't spend it wisely, but, Given we all accept is a good buy. N'Zogbia, I think 95% of Villa fans (not me I hasten to add) wanted him. We needed him to hit the ground running, but, he's struggled to say the least.
Hutton, hmmm, we were desparate for a right back with Luke Y going back to London. My concern with him is lack of pace.
1) I'd say he was perfectly acceptable. But if we were so fretful about transfer fees and wages then play Guzan. Spend a million on Vorm. Use a bit of imagination. Given's a decent enough keeper, but if he is going to be a quarter of our transfer budget and a load more wages that we can't afford then don't do it.

2) Just because lots of people wanted him doesn't make him a good signing. The manager is paid enough to identify people who will work. Lots of Man Utd fans wanted Veron. Lots of Villa fans wanted Collymore. Lots of Chelsea fans wanted Shevchenko. Doesn't mean they were money well spent.

3) Lichaj? Herd? Cuellar? Beye? The same point applies as to Given. I don't think any of them would have been perfect. But again, he has to prioritize. If he wants to spend £4m on a fifth player in the squad who is capable (which itself is debatable) of playing right-back then he can't really whinge when we don't have any strikers anymore.

I would like to see holloway... he came across really well in his post match interview last night, not the pain he was the year before in Prem, and I like what he does....

Champagne football on a lager budget!

He's a wanker. No thanks.

According to him, we're a half-arsed club that used to be famous. So he can fuck off.

right at this moment thats exactly what we are,
we want someone who can rebuild us back to what we can be, not someone who thinks we are doing great as it is and there is no room for much improvement.

i like guys who say it as it is, and not the normal horseshit that they normaly come out with just to get a job, ie 'i'm going to play attacking football especially at home'

i'd rather someone come in and say 'yes its shit here at the moment, but i'm going to change that'
did you know when Shankly went to Liverpool he called it the biggest toilet in football, but he believed he could change that, and did.

thats what we need, a straight talker with a vision

NO! And I doubt that Fergie would give us a letter about him, they have fallen out this year! Awwww.

Poyet, Martinez or Lambert would be an improvement IMO.

I agree with you John, but I don't think Holloway is who you describe

With any luck they may be proved right somewhere in there!

He new Hutton better than we did and he still bought him, Tries his hardest but he is a very ordinary footballer more suited to lower leagues. Don't want him anywhere near a serious spend.

As long as we're in for someone I'll be happy, it means Mcleish is on his way.
