I've just had a look on youtube at Ron and we should get the deal done asap.

Anyone else get the feeling that PL might...just might... know what he's doing ha ha!  Can't remember the last time a transfer window kept me this excited without leading to frustration...

I can't fault him so far. Every indication seems to be that he's building towards exactly what I've been saying we should do for years. As in, good value players from abroad and possibly building towards a more pleasing style of play. He is exactly the man I wanted us to get and he's been doing exactly the job I wanted and expected him to do.

I agree, and I'm delighted to say he's proving every misgiving I had about him utterly wrong so far.

Same here, was a little worried that he might try to work with what he had but clearly he's seen where the problems are and so far he's done a good job about getting them fixed.

Indeed. I loved the quotes from El Ahmadi about the training methods being "the same" as in Holland - I've rarely been more wrong, and I've not enjoyed being wrong more! We Villans appear to be on the cusp of an exciting few seasons.

We've only beaten Burton Albion and signed two players, isn't it a bit soon to be thinking you were spectacularly wrong?

Quite.  I'm optimistic mainly because we got rid of the last bloke and no-one could be as bad as him.  But otherwise I shall be employing Chris Smith's tried and trusted 'let's wait and see' approach.

Considering what I thought it would be like, I really was spectacularly wrong. Nothing's definite obviously, but the signs could scarcely be more positive I think.

Great to see even the "doubters" are now united in Lamberts arrival and what he is doing ..... PS not putting a dampner on anything but i was disappointed the players merely clapped the fans from the half way line on Saturday even though Lambert were instructing them to go over to the fans. Anybody else notice ? ......

Another brilliant thing about Lambert is that he has got rid of gregnash. For now.

Having been firmly in the OGS camp a number if weeks ago I must admit I'm very pleased with what PL has been doing and the way he has gone about the task. Not only does he seem to be upgrading weak links but also creating the foundations of a more technical team which I've been screaming for.

With the identification and speed of execution thus far doesn't it suggest that he was planning this for sometime (and way before players reported back?).

Short of employing McLeish as an attacking coach, how bad did you think it was possible to be after a match and a weeks training?

We might have only beaten Burton but Lambert has a 3 year deal at the club and has clearly been charged with turning around the misfortunes of the club. I'm pleased with what's been said and done so far but I'm not going to set my expectations too high just yet.

Lambert has funds but they aren't exactly vast so he has to use it wisely and he has done by making sensible buys and with a few more buys to strengthen some areas and I am confident we will creep into the top half of the table.

Further funds have probably been promised to Lambert over his contract to strengthen the team over the transfer windows which will help us to move up the table to a position we will all be a lot happier with but for now 10th will be somewhere I'd be pleased with for next season and a step in the right direction for Lambert to take us higher.

For me this coming season is all about perception.  If by the end of the season it's clear that we're a young side with lots of promise and a solid foundation then I'll be happy, the league position is less important (unless  the unthinkable happens and we end up at the wrong end again).  The signs are that Lambert is on the same wavelength, which I didn't expect as I thought he might try to prove himself by using the players we had and getting more out of them (i.e. the reason I thought he might be similar to MoN).

Still early days but it's encouraging so far.
