We've found out about this deal because of some opportunistic photography. A bit like how everyone found out about OGS. A deal may be much further along for Vlaar than we know. Because if we know anything from this summer is that we have done our business quickly and quietly.

There's a lot of work to do on the financial end too. Hearing that we are prepared to offer €7mil but Feyenoord want something more like €9mil.

He is a passionate fella! Grabbing a mic and singing with the crowd. Awesome scenes.

If Vlaar does join it will be a CB who is captain for his club coming in behind his team mate KEA in defensive mid role and a fellow dutch league player in attacking mid position, should create some good link up play from box to box.

There's talk on the Feynenoord forum that they may owe AZ Alkmaar a percentage of any money from a sale of Vlaar so they will try to ask for a higher price to offset that but will probably come down on that in negotiations for a deal.

Vlaar and Clark has a nice feel to it, Vlaar the commanding, strong no nonsence defender and Clark the technical one, thankfully both are ball players and not wackers too.

It's a good thought. If we are to play out from the back (as most of us have been wishing for a good few years) then the prospect of a centre back and defensive midfielder who've done that together for their club already is a welcome one.

A guy I play Fifa with is a Feyenoord fan, just showed him the pictures and he said

"Yes, that is our captain, Ron Vlaar. Dont want him to go but he deserves it. Its the same type of defender as Vertonghen. Only Vlaar has a massive body and shot power. 3 players gone of our starting eleven. Vlaar deserves to be the next "

I know that Lambert came from Norwich, but there's no need for him to sign the Dutch Delia

I just scanned the Birmingham Mail in the shop this morning and I may have been still asleep but did I read that Lambert has confirmed interest in Carroll?

Can't remember the quote exactly but something along the lines of "if he was available then we'd look at it".

What does he mean by "deserves" ?

Does your friend mean the word in a positive way; as in he's earned a move to a bigger club on better wages or do they want shot of him, as in "Hutton deserves to be next out the door" ?

He says previously that he doesn't want him to go so I'm assuming it's the positive view

I love these surprise signings. They all seem to fit too, and we're addressing areas we really need to as well. The sooner we get Collins and Dunne out the side the better. Hutton too. Hopefully Vlaar will get wrapped up soon.
