Theres one simple reason why we havn't gone for some of those players mentioned and thats wages.Berbatov,Carroll, Benayoun will all be on big money,we're not in that league any more. Even with the players coming in i think we have the weakest squad in the prem.

I don't think they fit in with the Lambert philosophy, it's all about players putting the team first not their own egos.

You would expect not. When Downing was mentioned as a possible returner, just after Rodgers said about wingers on 5-6mil a year, it was definitely never going to happen even if the fans were ok with it. How much of his £110k a week would he cut to move back to us.

Good that we are not splurging 100k a week on people. Arsenal don't and are not budging on 70k for Tom Wollocott.

Just need to trust that Lambert can put a side together from what we have and get tomorrow that can play his way and get results. It will take time, but there are still worse sides in the league than us.

Problem is, the options are running out. As much as I like to see the youngsters, and players from the lower divisions who may be keen to improve and learn, we do need a 'real deal striker'. If Bent and Gabby are out at the same time we're fucked. Relying on Delfouneso, Wiemann and Holman will be a massive gamble.
