What about Sid? Knows the club inside out, knows the players inside out, cheap internal promotion option without the fans getting on his back (because it is Sid), certainly has footballing ideals close to his heart. Hardly ideal, but the what we have now is much much worse.

Monty - the defence are being forced to hoof it due to the weak midfield.

Risso - I am worried about Lerner's ownership of the club. However, what can we do
about it? I think he should go.
How? On many occasions Herd and Bannan would run back to offer support, only for the ball to to go back to the keeper and long to, frankly, the opposition. I will not have it that we are doing what is pragmatic. We are doing what is stupid.

The problem with that midfield, for all their chasing about and effort, is they had no leadership and were incapable of putting three passes together. Time and time again they lost possession and did not look comfortable on the ball. We need some inspiration in there.

I would take that, or even Kevin Mac, because I fear the alternative is that the chairman will give McLeish 2 or 3 years, regardless of what happens.

It's like sitting watching a car crash unfold at the moment, and pretty much everyone knows it.

I wrote something in the first fanzine along the lines of what to do to get us on his side, and the biggest no-no I feared he'd do was play the kind of football he played at Small Heath, but that is exactly what he is doing.

Five points from the last seven games is truly horrific form.

John Barnes said on the ESPN commentary yesterday:

Quote
You can play that kind of football at Birmingham, but not at a club like Aston Villa

and I don't think it is some delusion of grandeur to say he is right on that.

It's like watching someone you love slowly dying of old age. It's the numbing inevitability of the whole thing.

Trouble is if he wanted to play a more passing game he's got no authority. If he dropped say collins or asked them not to boot it upfield aimlessly they'd be in revolt like last season. Dunne was already mouthing off at him yesterday. When you got a squad that out of control and on as rocky ground as AM there's not much he can do.

It would'nt surprise me in the slightest if Bent has asked his agent to put out a few feelers for a new club. We've paid £24m for a him and we're giving him no service whatsoever. If Dunne's fed up, then Benty definatley will be.

I'd love either Ian Taylor or Martin Laursen, I know the argument will be that they've got no experience but my counter argument is our last two managers have had 60 odd years experience between them and were/are useless, we'd certainly have fight and spirit with either of the above two.

Someone foreign who can spot and attract young talent from abroad. Appointing the likes of Taylor or Laursen wouldn't do that and would also put Sid's nose (further) out of joint.

The absolute insistence on Premier League experience makes no sense and has hindered us badly. Especially since it doesn't have to be successful experience as Mcleish proves.

Agree. Virtually all the most succesful managers of the last twenty years... Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho, Benitez, Houllier, Mancini... had no experience of the English top flight prior to taking over at the clubs where they had/are having success.

Any experts on foreign football got any recommendations as to what continental coach we could get?

When we were looking for a new manager before the current one signed I thought of Owen Coyle or Martinez, so its not easy getting the right one but it seems a lot easier to get the wrong one.
This one is worse than Dr Jo and Billy McNeill.
