Sure he's a lovely bloke, but just as we thought when we signed him, he turned out to be absolutely shite.

You can say all you like about him helping out in defence or whatnot, but he's a non-scoring striker, and we paid him 60k plus for four years, knowing we'd get no fee for him at the end.

What a gigantic waste of money that was, and a very good example of how we got into the financial shit we're in now.

I used to think Heskey was funny until he signed for us. He was bloody useless, I could never defend him whenever he (and by association, myself and my son) was mocked.

Poor kid is terrified of being dropped.
Which one?

Straight after that photo the kid has calmed down and is smiling at EH. All he needed to be perfectly happy was to be passed to a legend in Claret and Blue.  Good luck, Emile!

I still love you Emile. Not in a sticky touchy bottom kind of way but as one brother loves another.

His header at Wolves under Houllier was a beauty.

can't disagree with the waste of money for Villa comments, but I liked him.

You look at what he achieved and won through his career by sheer graft and effort compared to say a Stanley Victor or Dalian Atkinson who had all the ability but not the attitude to match.

I think he'd have been a good foil for Bent last year, but for some (still staggering) reason he was mostly shunted wide left.

Some forward players are better providers than scorers, (E.g) Welbeck doesn't score that many.

He must have had something to have achieved what he did.

A lot of managers liked him, I just wish they had enlightened the fans as to why?

Anyway no gripe with the guy, if people are silly enough to offer it, you would be a fool to turn it down!

He won trophies, played in World Cup finals tournaments and spent his entire English career in the Premier League. You don't do that just by being mates with the manager.

I'll always remember in THAT game against Bolton last season. Until he limped off after an hour, he gave a masterclass in target play, bullying both Bolton centre-backs all night.

Shame he didn't do it more often!

You might want to double check your facts on that one.

He had one season as a 17 year old in the second tier, it's still not a bad record to have something like 17 straight years as a top flight player.
