Isn't their official name still something like Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic Football Club? They just use AFC Bournemouth as a trade name as it's a bit less of a mouthful?
Yes that is correct. AFC was invented in 1972 by John Bond ...after we beat them in that famous  game at VP!

Not sure if they're still around.

Port Vale are unique as well aren't they? Only club not to be named after the place they are in
Add to them Grimsby Town who have always played at Blundell Park in Cleethorpes.

There's a Villa Park in The Hague, Holland.

There's Villa Aston FC in Mauritius.

As you surely know, Villa is a Latin and now an Italian name as well, so in Italy there are lots of villages, and consequently teams, named: Villa.

How come WBA named themselves after West Bromwich when they are, were and have always been from Birmingham? ;-)

Villa Park

Kevin Costner graduated from Villa Park High School in 1973

I went to California on holiday in 1992 and i'm sure I have a photo somewhere of me and my villa supporting mate standing beside a signpost with 'Villa Park' on it, IIRC it was a place near Anaheim.
