Talksport still banging on about how Aston Villa is "a step down" for Lambert...

Let them bang on all they like. We've landed a manager with real potential, that's all that matters. I actually think we're making a better appointment than Liverpool.

Agree 100% with you there Pete. I hope we get the dippers away early in the season. I reckon we'll give them a game this year.

The Lambert/Rogers/Martinez games will all be interesting considering their respective choices.

In the world of Shelley perspective there are NO bigger clubs than Aston Villa!
And a very fine perspective too, may I add?

I remember watching something recently about Lambert and Norwich. Can't for the life of me remember what it was (maybe goals on Sunday!?) anyway, they were highlighting that Norwich were all about 'movement' on the pitch. Remember be highly impressed and I'm sure there equaliser against arsenal was shown as example too.
Ramble over
Looking forward to Lambert getting started

I'd like to point out that from my perspective I agree.

I wish people would realise that TalkShite only say most of this to be controversial and to get you to text in at 50p a time. They do it on purpose and rarely are they their own thoughts.

Put 6Music on instead and listen to some tunes!

I read that many posters said that Lambert favours a direct style of playing.
Yes, in a certain sense his style of playing is more direct than Rodgers's one, but this must not be read in a  negative sense.
I have a soft spot for Norwich, so I had the chance to see several games of the canaries under Lambert, and I have always remained impressed by their style of football; with players that probably earn all together the fees of the sole Richard Dunne, they have played a modern, entertaining, attacking football, with 2 forwards (Gabby and Bent) and one attacking midfielder (Ireland), and with the defenders that tried to build the play from the back instead of limiting to belt the ball clear; they had a never-say-die spirit, and they scored a lot of goals.

What's more?

Since 2010, when I saw Norwich to win the League One  with a fantastic comeback, I fell in love with P.L., I just hoped to  see him at Villa, and now my dream came true!

Reading back through this thread, this comment makes me the most positive. I know you're an absolute stickler for everything progressive and possession based, Archie, so for you to say these things is positive. Sounds more reminiscent of Bundesliga approaches than British, which makes a lot of sense.

Where is Lerner's house?

Not far from Bodymoor I think - near Kingsbury Water Park
Either Tamworth or Telford out in the sticks, can't remember which one. I know someone that works there who comes into my work. If he comes back he pays all the staff to go home because he hates having people around

Aston Villa are hopeful of announcing Paul Lambert as their new manager within the next 24 hours, Press Association Sport understands.

Villa remain confident of securing Lambert as Alex McLeish's successor even though Norwich refused to accept his resignation on Thursday.

The midlands club are ready to pay the compensation demands of the Canaries for Lambert, who has a rolling contract at Carrow Road.

compensation . Gravy granules and brocolli , Delia will be happy with that.

It's not all bad on there.  I know he is a blue nose, but Ian Danter is OK and Matt Holland comes across well when he is on there.  Durham and Gough, and Hawksbee and Jacobs are irritating beyond belief though.

I actually like listening to Alan Brazil. Surprisingly, he generally has positive things to say about Aston Villa. Often comments that it shouldn,t be underestimated what a "big" club the Villa are.

On another issue.  I'm a bit confused as to who is who on the site at the moment with the latest user name changes, some are easy to work out, others less so.

So, who are you, let's be havin you!
