Did you want Lerner to fuck off in January or any previous month since he joined us?

Just when it became clear he didn't want to invest any more and he started selling off our best players without us actually replacing them.

This is the match thread, talk about the match.

I can't make out which is worse, either the players don't know what the manager requires of them or the manager simply doesn't require anything....

We need to stop blaming individuals here, we have a midfield who should be very good when we have the ball, they can all pass and are all comfortable on the ball.

That none of them are doing this can only suggest that the game plan is keep our shape tight and make sure that if we lose the ball we've got the bank of 4 and 5 in place and are hard to pass through.

The lack of football on display is, in my opinion, 100% down to managerial and coaching decisions.  We saw 3 1/2 seasons of the shit down the road trying to not concede and hope they took the 1-2 chances they got in a game, that tactic has been copied verbatim to Villa and we now experiencing the joys of playing in such a restrictive system.

Bannan, Nzog, Ireland and Delph in particular will never shine whilst we're playing this shit.  To try playing a style that doesn't suit 4 of the 5 players you've started shows a complete lack of understanding of tactics that is pretty breath-taking considering this is a guy who has managed internationally.

We've been left with average players that's the problem! If they were any good they would have left or been snapped up by the bigger clubs already.

Could easily been 1-0 up here. That was a great save by Kenny

According to Gary 'Bumfluff' Neville in the Sky commentary box, Aston Villa should be grateful for a manager of the pedigree of Alex McLeish.

I cant stand Collins' ineptitude to play a ball to feet. STOP LAUNCHING THE BALL 70 YARDS EVERY TIME YOU TOUCH IT, you dumb clown. Our midfield is a complete joke. I want Ireland to come good but christ mate you've got to move and create. He sits on his heels and reacts to every play, get involved and be proactive. Delph, ew terrible half. Atleast Bannan looks to be putting in a shift but his effort is getting us no where with no one around him.

I wish there was more to talk about. QPR, fully of confidence, haven't really pushed us that much. It's taken us 40 minutes to decide we can actually beat this rabble.

Hopefully we'll see a more confident Villa second half. At least our fans there are supporting us.

Delph won't make it, Gabby has no support. We will go into every game with an immobile bus parked in front of our goal.

Christ this is dire.

I have cancelled Sky Sports and it kicks in in a couple of weeks so am quite pleased to be reminded of one of the myriad reasons I have done so....

Afternoon all.  Another dire half of football from McLeish's team.  We are horrible to watch, absolutely dismal.

The squad is not strong enough, but currently we look like far less than the sum of the parts.

Man for man, our team is much better than QPR, on paper, but we seem to have gone down there looking to come away with a draw, and are showing zero attacking intent whatsoever.

I'll give AM time, as there's the possibility he's working on getting us playing another way, slim though it is, but the minute I start to believe that this is the way he actualy *wants* us to play is the minute I'm going to want him out.

I'd shudder to think that an Aston Villa side could actually be sent out and told to play like this.
