My brother made a complaint to Steve Stride about the train we had for the trip to Wembley the previous season - and he sent him two complimentary tickets in the North Stand for whoever we played in the home leg of the UEFA Cup first round.   Consequently we had a great view of penalty shoot-out.

After that night I had high hopes of a good run in the competition under BFR...

It was.

I seem to remember the crowd taking the piss out of Man Utd a few weeks later after they been done 4-0 by Barcelona mid-week, partly because they hadn't been able to field their strongest side.   Needless to say, they still beat us.

Keegan was very effervescent in his support of Villa that night and was chuffed on all levels - 36 hours later his Newcastle were able to turn over our tired players at Villa Park.

I saw him as our lucky pundit - Inter, Tranmere, Man U were all commented on by him...........

I can still picture him stood there with his hands in the air after his penalty went in.  Great days.

The best well almost.  Compare and contrast with today.  Not guilty even if he was caught on the least grainy CCTV image carrying the goods into his house.
