Birmingham 1-1 Villa 1994 testimonial footage
« on: September 21, 2011, 06:40:56 PM »

Without consulting the 1995 review book i cant remember whose testimonial this was, either John Frain's or Paul McGrath's but i think it was for the Blues player. If i recall rightly the Villa striker with dreadlocks was on trial Ronald Koop? Anyone go to this? We were bottom four in the Prem at the time and BFR had just been sacked.

Me either.   I was at Uni so certainly wouldn't have travelled back for it, but I would think I would have least remembered it.

Doesn't sound like there was a single Villa fan in the ground when we scored.

They invade the pitch when they equalise against us. In a friendly. They are so fucking small time it is untrue!

Isn't this the game with the infamous photo of a young Craig Gardner in a blose top?

It looks like it's from an end of season video review which makes it laughable they included it. This was the season when they walked the div 3 title and went to Wembley but they still manage to squeeze in a friendly against us. What a joke. That equaliser was probably their second fondest memory of the season after that c*** Tait taking his shirt off

It was for John Frain. We had about 500 there. All lads shall we say!! We needed the firm walking back up Digbeth!

So why exactly are a number of their fans invading the pitch after scoring in a friendly?

Yup, forget the seats just hang a few tyres on ropes. So much harder to throw at the players.

The John Frain game was at the end of the '95-'96 season and I think we won 6-0 even with Brian Little and Allan Evans in the team. It was a nasty atmosphere and it kicked off outside after the game.
