i would instantly pick from any of the three 'debutants' who played against Spurs on first home game of the relegation season.

1975 - Andy Gray's debut on a windy day and a bumpy pitch at the lovely Ayresome Park, first touch of a rapist that day.

Ken McNaught's extremely poor form lasted pretty much the entirety of his first season. Thankfully, a different Ken appeared the next season.

Steve Foster, although it still turned out to be one of his better games.  ;)

Andy Lochead was awful in a 2-0 home defeat to Bristol City and didn't score until well into the following season.

Andy Comyn against Liverpool.  I Got into the ground just as it kicked off, no one knew who he was and thought Chris Price had put a wig on. My main memory is of John Barnes tearing him a new one, resulting in him falling over on more than one Occasion. Surprisingly I think we got away with a 1-1 draw that night.

Ugo was right back against arsenal wasnt he ?-yes a dreadful debut that one.
Id go for lee hendrie, sent off at qpr on his debut i believe.

Correct - I was sitting behind Nigel Kennedy and his family. He was giving it some mouth, whilst his family looked on bewildered (by Nigil's behaviour, not the  sending off). I seem to remember QPR players pleading with the ref not to send him off.

I was at that. Hendrie had come on in the 1st half when Draper got injured and got booked for kicking the ball away. 2nd half right in front of the dug out he brought down a Rangers player, it was Ray Wilkins who went straight over to the ref to plead for the 2nd yellow not to come out.

Another vote for Stephen Ireland.

Thank God that woeful display was a one off from our World Class midfield maestro !
