A good message for a good man.

Just out of interest, how would we be feeling if one of our new signings said something similar to his previous club?

In the same way fans choose to say Martinez lacks ambition by turning the more lucrative Villa job down in favour of Wigan yet call Downing and Barry dirty money grabbing treachorous bastards. It would be met with selective viewing :)
Anyway, Friedel was a top player for us.Fortunately we've managed to replace him with another top Premiership goalkeeper.

If it was politely respectful like that, I'd have no problem at all.  What Friedel said was a world away from Houllier's various Liverpool comments/actions.

As would I, but I could see H&V's lunatic fringe jumping on it for all the wrong reasons!!

What a top bloke he is, shame we didn' sign him earlier in his career.  Guaranteed a good reception when he returns.

Spot on. That's the difference. Fair play to Brad for his comments.

I think we let him go because we weren't prepared to offer a 40 yr old a two year contract and I think we were right. He gave us three good years and we have replaced him with a younger model of similar quality. He has his two year contract and a nice signing on fee and everyone is happy. He also takes the time to send a message which shows his class and dignity and ensures he will be highly thought of. Maybe he should do a bit of PR management with some younger players when he hangs up his gloves.

Would of been nice to of had a similar message from Ashley considering we took the gamble on him and made him who he is now. Didn't see Fergie batter an eyelid at you when you at Watford buddy!

If I remember correctly didn't Barry come out with something similar just after he joined Man.City?

I personally would like to thank Brad for making the effort in saying a few words that supporters respect. In between training, looking for a new home etc. he didn't in a million years have to do this but I for one believe it makes one hell of a difference to how supporters might treat you afterwards. A lot of players are treated as almost god like figures, especially with the youngsters and a few words of thanks isn't really all that hard to do.

Top Bloke  ;)
